✈️ Happy Women of Aviation Worldwide Week!
From 2-8 March, we join the global celebration honouring the legacy, achievements and future of women in aviation. This week marks the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot licence earned on March 8 1910 - a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come!
At the BWPA, we’re inspired by the trailblazers, the change-makers and the everyday women who 'Fly It Forward' by opening doors, sharing stories, mentoring the next generation and challenging industry norms. Whether you’re a pilot, engineer, air traffic controller, student or supporter of women in aviation - your passion and determination can help shape a more inclusive community.
This week, let’s:
✨ Celebrate women who have gone above and beyond both in the air and across every corner of our industry.
🎤 Share your stories of inspiration and mentorship.
🛩️ Support outreach, events, and opportunities that introduce girls and women to aviation’s many pathways.
To every BWPA member, thank you for lifting others up and helping change the face of aviation. Here’s to the past, the present, and the future women in aviation! ✈️

🎈Happy Montgolfier Day! 🎈
242 years since the first intrepid humans took to the air with a fire fuelled by straw to sustain the flight. Much happier with our modern burners!

Celebrating 65 years since the birth of 'modern' ballooning when Ed Yost proved concept of flying with a burner to keep the air hot for sustained flight. And the adventure began...
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CiotCZ1Es/
🎈 On this day in 1960, Ed Yost took to the skies over Nebraska in the first modern hot air balloon, forever changing the world of flight! Using a propane burner and new lightweight materials, Yost made ballooning safer, more practical, and more accessible than ever before.
From that single flight emerged an entire era of sport ballooning and adventure!

Lovely to meet Jewel Cutter, wife of the late Sid Cutter (immortalised in the statue outside the Sid Cutter Pavilion on Balloon Fiesta Park). A fantastic end to the 53rd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta since Sid first launched it with just 13 balloons in 1972. Jewel is a real gem and continues to support and get involved in this amazing event that has grown so much 💎🥰

“I actually had a balloon before I had a car,” Marissa Vereb said.

Before you grow up to be a pilot, it's important to get a feel for the whole ballooning experience by pretending to be a gas cylinder and having a tea party in the basket with your buddies 🥰
