Coffeeneuring 2021 #4: Exploration
For my fourth ride, and I took a long exploration ride with some black coffee along the south of Albuquerque.
I've been wanting to go trail hunting down there for a long time!
I found a lot of dead ends, and some really sketchy singletrack, but the gravel trail along the levy is immaculately maintained and there were a number of doubletrack loops that let you drop in for a more picturesque ride in the cottonwoods.
Wishing you all a shreddy from

Coffeeneuring #3: Hidden Gems
My third installment of included a stop to meet my Mom and her partner at a little New Mexican style greasy spoon called Duran Central Pharmacy. The name is as peculiar as the restaurant itself, which is hidden in the back of a kitschy gift shop/pharmacy just west of downtown Albuquerque. Their carne adovada is to die for, and their portions as enormous as they are delicious. Meals come with an absolute unit of a homemade, buttered tortilla. The coffee is about what you expect at a dinner but flows copiously.
Fuelled by 4 lbs of huevos rancheros, I took a fast, overly loaded, inappropriately dressed ride (I was on my way to work at a Trunk-or treat, so had my costume in my saddle bag and was wearing heavy insulated boots). All-in-all, a great coffeeneur.
This man is no ordinary man. This is Mr. F G Superman. To all appearances, he looks like any other law-abiding citizen. But Mr F G Superman has a secret identity. When trouble strikes at any time, at any place, he is ready to become... BICYCLE REPAIR MAN!
Oh look... is it a stockbroker?
Is it a quantity Surveyor?
Is it a church warden?
NO! It's Bicycle Repair Man!
Clink!
Screw!
Bend!
Inflate!
Alter Saddle!
See how he uses a spanner to tighten that nut!
Yes! whenever bicycles are broken, or menaced by international communism, Bicycle Repair Man is ready!

Coffeeneuring 2021 #2: Tradition
For my second ride, I met up with my good friends and Lane (no Insta) at The Spot, where a group of us has met to brew coffee on a semi-weekly basis for something like five years.
Nothing like a good ride, some camp stove coffee, and solid conversation to get your head right.
New A.S.S. Slapper in the shop!
Be warned, if you ride in New Mexico, you'd better be ready to encounter the manxome foe that is the Bindii plant, locally known as the goathead.
Check out this and the other A.S.S. Slappers at my shop (link in bio)

If you follow basically any sport, I'm sure you've seen that the last few years have been especially rough on transgender athletes (not that it's ever been easy!). Myself being someone who's main goal is to increase bike stoke, this is counter to the cause! Bikes are for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age, crede, or expression.
The RIDE organization, who is the recipient of the raffle proceeds, puts in the good work representing transgender cyclists in the face of arbitrary, discriminatory guidelines and ever-changing rules. Check their bio for a link to their page to check out the raffle or support them otherwise.

Took a long A.S.S. ride today to warm up for the 24-hour race I'm riding this weekend (my first race!).
Some lovely people joined me for parts of it ( ) but a lot was solo.
It felt good to get out and push myself, and the newly dirt-dropped handled admirably.
Good trails, good coffee and beer (thanks ) and BBQ, and a single speed shredder make for a great day.

This is 105-year-old Robert Merchand. He's currently trying to break the world record for furthest distance cycled in an hour by someone over the age of 100.
Edit: He's just beaten his own world record, with a distance of 22.547km in one hour. Incredible.
Age is nothing, mentality is everything.
