Schaller Handmade Knives

Handmade knives, both fixed blades and folders. All made in my shop in Albuquerque, NM.

Finally got the lockback finished up! This one's put together in the traditional manner, with peened pins - no screws. Nickel silver bolsters and liners, and a decidedly non-traditional thumbstud instead of a nail nick.

Something different - my first attempt at a lockback. Hope to finish this and two new slipjoint models in time for Christmas!

Loveless-style subhilts finished up! Box Elder burl on the left, Amboyna burl on the right. 416 stainless hardware and mirror polished blades.

A reminder: My page is semi-broken. I cannot receive or send messages here. Please contact me at: [email protected]
Thanks for looking!

A batch ready for heat treat - three Loveless style subhilts and three of my Shadow models.

Let's see if I can get the full picture in . . .. .

Here's a subhilt blade with the bevels ground out on a 3" wheel. Next, the guard and subhilt will be fitted, then the tang will be tapered. Then it's on to heat treat|!

I've been wanting to do this for a while . . . I made a reproduction of an old-style Randall model 5 Camp and Trail knife, Bradford Angier version, with a black Micarta handle, nickel silver hilt, and compass in the butt.
The newer ones have a rounded top at the guard - this is the old style squared top. I just like the aesthetics.

Hi folks,

You've probably noticed it's been very quiet here lately.

I lost my wife in January. She fought pancreatic cancer for over a year and a half, and finally lost her fight. For the last couple of months, I was with her pretty much constantly, trying to keep her comfortable and out of pain. There was no time for work in the knife shop.

I'm just starting to get back to work. I hope to have some new stuff to show you soon.
I think I have my Facebook messaging problem solved, and I should be able to receive and respond to messages now. Still, it's a better bet to email me at [email protected].

Here's an Orca flipper I just finished up. It's been in pieces on my workbench for the last couple of months. It's made as a framelock and has Timascus overlays. The frame, pivot screws, and clip are anodized a powder blue to contrast with the heat-colored Timascus.

Thanks for your understanding,

New model! The "Delphi" flipper folder. Shown here with blue G-10 scales and black G-10 bolsters. 3 38" blade, 7 3/4" long overall. Blade pivots on ball bearings for extra smooth opening.

Please note that while I can read comments on my posts, I am still not getting notifications or private messages on facebook. Please contact me at [email protected]. Thank you!

A Loveless style subhilt with stainless hardware and antique ivory Micarta scales. Another great photo by Jim Cooper!

The barlow with giraffe bone covers is up for sale - $350 with FREE shipping in the continental U.S. Own a completely hand made classic slip joint with excellent walk and talk (If you like slip joints, you probably know what walk and talk means.) E-mail me at [email protected].
PLEASE NOTE: Facebook has done something to my page, and I'm not getting private messages here. Until I can get this figured out, please e-mail me to contact me. Thanks!

My first slip joint - a classic 2-blade barlow, just like your father carried (or your grandfather, if you're a young whippersnapper.)
I carried one like this in high school - that's right, you could carry a knife in school back then!
CPM154 blades and backsprings, nickel-silver liners and bolsters, and dyed giraffe bone scales.

Can't get a good picture of this one - too shiny! A Loveless style subhilt with "Resin-Ivory" (about the only imitation ivory that actually looks like the real thing) scales and stainless hardware.

The Zero-G dagger pictured is up for sale - $275 with FREE shipping in the continental U.S.

In the sheath . . . .

Something new . . . I quite like the way this came out, and I think I'll add it to my catalog. 8 1/4" long overall, with a full double-edge. Hollow ground on a 3" wheel. Acid etched and stone washed blade. G-10 scales and a vertical Kydex sheath.
I put this on my belt to see how it felt to wear, and it's so light I forgot I had it on! So I've decided to call it the "Zero-G."

Here's a Shadow in coyote brown G-10 and a horizontal left-handed Kydex sheath.

Sheath finished up for the Loveless chute knife (see picture a few posts below) and this one is AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY!
Mirror polish, green canvas Micarta scales with red liner, a very tapered tang, and 416 stainless fittings. The sheath has been designed so that the knife will fit into it either way, so it can be worn right or left-handed.

If you've always wanted a Loveless chute knife but didn't have 10-15 grand lying around, this is for you! $475 with FREE shipping in the U.S.

Schaller Knives Orca Ivory Mic

Looks like facebook has changed the way you embed videos - and I can't figure it out! Well, I never was a "tech" guy. But if you click on the picture below, it will take you to the video.

Here's an Orca flipper with blue anodized titatnium liners/bolsters and ivory Micarta scales.

The Loveless/Archer chute knife all finished up, with Bob Loveless's favorite handle material, green canvas Micarta.

Just got the blade polished up on this Loveless/Archer chute knife.
Want to know the secret to taking a good photo of a mirror polished blade? Yeah, so do I.

My Ranger model now comes standard with a handmade leather snap sheath! I've tested this sheath and have found it to be both more comfortable to wear and easier to draw and replace the knife than a Kydex sheath. This is a heavy-duty survival knife, but you'll barely notice the weight on your belt.

This one is available for immediate delivery - no waiting time. Price is $285 plus shipping.

Working on the prototype for a new, as yet unnamed flipper model. A little smaller and more utilitarian than my first flipper model, the Orca.

I think most guys nowadays design these with CAD programs on a computer. Unfortunately, watching me try to run a CAD program is like watching a monkey trying to type out a Shakespeare play. So I start with paper, refine the design on cardboard (a cut-up tissue box in this case) and then make the final pattern on brass sheet.

A study in contrasts . . . . two of the blades I have ready for heat treat. I'd better label them so I don't mix them up!

Hmm, this looks like a classic slip joint 2 blade Barlow. But it can't be. I don't make slip joints . . . do I?😉

Finished up that serpentine dagger! Nickel silver fittings, dyed box elder handle, fluted and wire wrapped. Sterling silver wire, twisted in my shop.
