With 19 total tackles against Mayfield, Las Cruces LB Denton Walter now has 404 career total tackles (per MaxPreps). That would make him 3rd all time for most tackles recorded in New Mexico prep football history. He would need 124 more to set a new state record, and surpass former Santa Rosa LB Darren Chavez's record of 527. . Awesome stuff! Also, if you don't know, Walter is verbally committed to UNM. Eldorado midfielder Aliya Nivanh is one of the best players in New Mexico, and scored a goal in the 2025 5A state championship game that Eldorado ended up winning. Last season, she was a 1st Team All-State and All-District selection, and a 2nd Team All-Metro selection as well. Rio Rancho striker/wing Danae Lee (class of 2029) is only a sophomore but already one of the top soccer players in the state. Through 6 games, she has a team-high 7 goals and 1 assist. Last season, as a freshman, she had 17 goals for a Rams team that played in the 5A state championship. Also, I have seen her play plenty in person, and she has some of the best shooting form that I've seen...her follow through is elite. She's a varisty basketball player in the Winter too.
