Edge Cycling

Edge Cycling strives to provide the best in coaching and training for all levels and disciplines. Andrew Harris, Performance Director

Sprinters Edge provides a unique, integrated approach to developing sprint cyclists. We believe that to become your best, careful attention needs to be paid to all elements of preparation. Proper training, nutrition, restorative methods, race tactics, and a balanced lifestyle must be in place to ensure top performance. To succeed as a sprinter, your training must be highly specialized and focused on improving the qualities necessary to produce the power and speed required for a world-class performance. Despite good intentions to help cyclists strengthen their capabilities, many young sprinters are "un-made" by poor choices in training and methodology. We will ensure you make the right choices by selecting methods that develop you as a sprint athlete and by avoiding those techniques that not only waste time but may also cause shifts in physiology which could restrain cyclists from reaching their full potential. Riders are constantly being challenged to break personal bests. Sprinter's Edge strives to create a positive, goal-oriented system and approach for the preparation of sprint cyclists. By helping cyclists to consistently break PRs, Sprinter's Edge enables riders to achieve more confidence in their ability as well as more interest and enthusiasm for training. If your goal is to become a top international sprint competitor or just develop a winning sprint on the Sunday group ride, let Sprinter's Edge provide you with the tools to be your best.

Edge Cycling was well represented at the 2020 Ontario Track Provincial Championships. 13 riders competed in the U17, Juniors, Mens, and Masters categories.

Day 1 events: Individual Pursuit and Keirin.

A gold, a silver, and a bronze for Edge Cycling in the third and final round of the Ontario Cup.

I’m looking forward to representing the red, white and blue at the World Championships in Berlin! 🇺🇸 ⁣⁣⁣
Reminiscing: In 2007, I was a junior racing for the state of Baden-Württemberg at my first German Nationals in Berlin. I took bronze in the 500m time trial back when I was an enduro, but that aero helmet tho 😆
A few months later, I was diagnosed with type 1 #diabetes and thinking it was the end to my cycling career. ⁣A lot happened in between, and in 2012, after enough convincing from others, I finally made the switch to sprint and began training with Edge Cycling. So glad I did 🙂 #everythinghappensforareason? ⁣⁣

It was a great night of racing at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center for the sprint invitational. We saw Geneway, who’s been working relentlessly in training, put up a good fight. As well as James and Tommy, who met in gold medal final.

Tommy has had quite a setback this season with illness and surgery and unfortunately missed #TrackNats, but he has been back, healthy and working hard - setting a new PB in the flying 200m with a 10.5. ⁣

Our Masters Sprinter, Joe Transue had has first Friday night debut and put the hurt on the field, earning himself some good results and money! ⁣

On the Women’s side, Allyson and Anja represented strongly. Anja set a new PB with a 12.8. It was a great night of racing! ⁣

Last Friday’s Cooperate Challenge at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center! Geneway, Andrew and Genelyn have been coaching 10 teams of 6 riders each (60 total people) for Corporate Challenge for the last 6 weeks. ⁣

#EdgeCycling Juniors, Sebastian, Nicholas, Reagen and Cara volunteered their time taking tickets, escorting Bolt and helping the PeeWee Pedalers at the velodrome!⁣

Getting it done on the road in Westchester this morning. Cara King wins the Junior Women’s Race. Dakota Stein takes out the Junior boys U17 race, and Sebastian Malaver taking 2nd. Great team results! #hardwork #EdgeCycling

National Night Out in Upper Macungie was a blast!⁣

James Mellen, Becca Martz and Jocelyn Pattishall shared their experiences and connected with kids and families, educating about helmet and bike safety. As well as promoting the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and recruiting for the Fall BRL programs.⁣

National Night Out is an event throughout the country about police and firemen and safety. It was fun and great to give back to the community and get more kids involved 🙌🏼 They were pretty excited to have their picture taken with the fastest man in America!

Edge Cycling has a great weekend at the Northeast Regional Masters Championships. Jim Alvord won both the 500m and Sprint competition in the 55+ group after setting a nice PB in the 200. Todd Stodolski set the quick time in the 200 for the day in the 45+ group before taking gold in the sprints and 500mTT. Gwenn Afton set TTown PB’s in both the 500mTT and sprint before taking silver in both. Fun weekend, and great racing from everyone.

Cara King was getting it done at the Tour of Millersburg this weekend. The three stage race included a TT, Criterium, and RR. Cara took 13th, 4th, and 10th respectively. Giving her 9th in the GC. Cara, at 16 improves every week. #hardwork

Pro-Am Super Tuesday Night Racing

Congratulations to all of our Masters riders and Coach, Jim Alvord - Pennsylvania State and Regional Champion. Jim won the Match Sprints and 500m TT with a 37.1. ⁣

Pictured with Jim is Nicholas, Rebecca, Reagen and our Endurance Coach Mike - who all just got back from a Sunday ride and came to support our Masters riders racing at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center!

Congrats to Zach Mcclendon for being the fastest in qualifying today at the Fixed Gear Classic today in Blaine Minnesota. Zach was only a 1/10 off the track record. He went on to take the silver medal in the sprint tournament and finished 6th in the Keirin.

After a little reset from Track Nationals, it’s back to the drawing board. Great seeing our athletes and Junior Women consistently put in the hard work.

Mia took the win at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center Junior Women’s Exhibition Keirin! Teammates, Divya, Cara and Anja also landed on the podium.

Women’s 13-14, Reagen raced her first Friday Night at the velodrome and made the podium!
