Today we had the privilege of doing a special laser tag event (more details to follow) and we had a great time. A HUGE Thank You to Pev's Paintball & Airsoft Park for letting us use a field today. It took this event to the next level!

Day 3 of getting to know Hammer!

Question:
What was your first experience in Paintball?

Hammer:
My first ever paintball experience was a lacrosse team building event at Pev's Paintball & Airsoft Park in Manassas, VA, in 1998. I borrowed a Tippmann Pro-Carbine from a teammate of mine who was big into paintball at the time, bought a box of Team Colors paint and hit the field. The old Pev's field was fairly small, but they did have this great fort up on this small bluff, with a six-foot cliff on three sides.Quite a unique field in paintball.

In my very first game, we took a squad around the left side of the fort, Hugging the base of the cliff, we caught their rear-guard by surprise. I then got my first paintball elimination, shooting a guy leaning out of a doorway, firing on the main assault out front.

Feeling my Wheaties after a my first elimination, I grabbed some roots, scaled the cliff, and sprinted the 25 yards to the doorway once occupied by the guy I eliminated moments before. Inside I found a short hallway with a right-hand turn at the end into the courtyard and another player milling about inside.

Eliminating him, I suddenly remembered the point of the game was to knock a cone off a post in the center of the fort. Now, with two eliminations in my very first game, I decided to be a hero and knock that cone off myself.

I ran down the hallway, went through the doorway on the right AND...

Through the doorway was the courtyard, an orange road cone on a post, and 15 or so opponents, all of whom were waiting for me to come through the doorway. When I turned the corner, it looked like the last scene of the movie "Glory." All 15 or so muzzles were trained on me, and I was hit at least 20 times from close range.

I walked off, knowing I was forever hooked on this game.

Question:
What was your first Scenario Experience?

Hammer:
Battle of Stalingrad, Skirmish Paintball, 2006 as an applicant with TSSOC, along with fellow then-applicant and current TSSOC member Bulldog. It was cold, gray and snowy, just like the the actual Stalingrad, and I was impressed by the gameplay and large turnout, and loved the tactics and leadership TSSOC displayed on the field.

Question:
What is the on-field story you tell your non-paintball friends about playing with TSSOC that you tell them to get them interested in playing?

Hammer:
PRZ Paintball, Picton, Ontario, Canada - TSSOC holds a vital T-junction in fierce CQB for more than an hour, repulsing coordinated assaults on three sides while only taking a single casualty in that time.

Unfortunately Hammer won't be able to take us on a tour of his gearbag tomorrow, but we'll make sure to catch him at an event and do one on the fly!
