Bass Tournament Circuit in West Central Minnesota

The final event of the 2026 Reel Team season was held August 15th on Lake Ida. Light rain in the morning didn't seem to hurt the bite too bad as the anglers brought plenty of heavy limits to the scales.

Taking the top spot was the Father/Son team of Mike and Wyatt Mohr. They had a giant bag of brown bass that weighed 23.04. It was only a matter of time before they landed in the top spot because they have been checking cashing machines the past few seasons. Congratulations on the win!

Another Father/ Son team took the 2nd spot on the day weighing in all Largemouth. Chris and Owen Swanson had 22.05 of fat Lake Ida largemouth!

Rounding out the top 3 was the team of Cody Rupert and Dustin Ziesemer. They had 6 smallmouths that weighed 21.90. There 3rd place finish gave them more than enough points to win their 2nd Team
Of The Year in a row. Great season, guys!

The 4th place team of Tom Wilkens and Bucky Scholl, had a 4.44 Largemouth that secured the FXR Big Bass. A super big one!

Hard to believe another season has come and gone already. Reel Team Bass would like to thank all the anglers, host sites and sponsors for making this one of the best team circuits in the state. Please continue to support FXR for all your outdoor clothing needs. They truly are the best sponsor this circuit could ask for.

The second event of the 2026 Reel Team Bass season took place Saturday, July 18th on Lake Minnewaska. Temps were in the upper 80's with light North winds. Getting bit didn't seem to be a problem for most of the teams, but finding the better fish was not easy.

The team that rose to the top was a pair of college roommates, Keaton Cue and Anderson Thrower. They had 3 smallmouth and 3 largemouth that weighed 20.90 lbs. They also took the FXR big bass award with a 5.23 Largemouth. A nice pay day and some hardware is a great way to end your first Reel Team Bass event. Great job, guys!

With an impressive all brown bass bag weighing 19.65 lbs. The team of Dustin Ziesemer and Cody Rupert took home 2nd on the day. They are on a roll and will also go into the final event with a nice lead in the 2026 Team of the Year race.

Rounding out the top 3 was the team of Kent Mittelstaedt and Ethan Preston. They had 6 smallmouths that weighed 18.19 lbs. Congratulations to all the teams who figured out how to get some bigger bites and cash a check on the day.

Thank you to all the anglers who have supported FXR. They are the best sponsor this circuit has ever had and the payouts would not be as good without them on board. They supply the plaques and help extend the payout with gift cards towards there great gear. It's awesome to see more and more teams wearing their gear out on the water. If you haven't checked out their website, I encourage you to. Their sun protection clothing is second to none and is very breathable on these hot humid days. Also, remember you can check out some of their stuff at Ollies Service and Christophersons Bait in Alexandria.

Our final event of the year will be on Lake Ida Saturday, August 15th. Take off and weigh in will be at Big Horn Bay on the North end. Tournament hours will be 6:30 to 2:30. We still have a few openings for this event. If interested, contact Clarence Rasmussen at 320-760-5226.

TOY standings after our first tournament…

On Saturday June 13th, the Reel Team Bass Anglers dealt with a cold front that delivered strong Northwest winds. On top of that, they were dealing with some heavily pressured fish. As always someone figures them out better than the rest.

The team of Cody Rupert and Dustin Ziesemer did that in commanding fashion, winning by a little over 5 pounds. Their 6 smallmouth weighed 23.34 and they also took big bass on the day with a 4.69 lb brute.

2nd place was the team of Clarence Rasmussen and Terry Crosgrove. Their mixed bag weighed 18.32.

Rounding out the top 3 was the team of Todd Kelm and Mathew Meyer. They had 6 Largemouth that weighed 18.17.

Congratulations to all our top finishers on overcoming mother nature and an incompetent Minnesota DNR!

Thank you goes out to the best outdoor clothing brand, FXR for sponsoring Reel Team Bass again this year. You can check out their clothing around Alexandria at Ollie’s Service and Christopherson’s Bait. Mention Reel Team Bass and they will give you 25% off.

Looking forward, our next event will be Saturday, July 18th on Minnewaska. Take off and weigh in will be at Water's Edge Bar and Grill in Starbuck. A few openings still remain so get in contact with Clarence Rasmussen if you are interested in fishing.
