🎁 Turning Recovered Property Into Holiday Cheer 🎁

The Alexandria Police Department recently recovered approximately $15,000 worth of stolen toys.

About $9,000 worth of those toys were returned to their known owners, but a number of items remained unclaimed. Rather than allow those toys to sit unused, the department requested and received a court order allowing the remaining toys to be donated to the Alexandria Toy Drive.

We are grateful to our Police Department for taking the extra steps needed to make sure these toys can now bring some joy to children and families in our community.

What began as an unfortunate situation has been turned into an opportunity to give back, and we are proud to see these items put to such a meaningful use.

Thank you to the Alexandria Police Department for helping make the holiday season a little brighter for local families! 🎄🎁

🌳 Community Spotlight: Thank You, Eric Freeman! 🌳

The City of Alexandria would like to recognize and sincerely thank Eric Freeman, who generously volunteers his time serving as Superintendent of the Alexandria Parks Department.

Eric’s role goes far beyond maintaining the grounds. Over the past year, his hands-on work at Beulah Park has transformed the appearance of the park. From planting flowers and landscaping to w**d eating, mowing, and general upkeep, the grounds have truly come alive under his care.

In addition to overseeing the day-to-day needs of our parks, Eric also serves as the administrator for the Alexandria Park Board, helping turn the Board’s plans and ideas into action. He works closely with the Mayor’s Office, assists with park operations, and helps support and coordinate pool staff during the season.

More recently, Eric has also been helping breathe new life into Riverview Park. Working alongside the Alexandria Park Board, improvements are underway to update equipment and make the park an inviting place for families and residents to enjoy.

Eric’s commitment combines hands-on work, behind-the-scenes coordination, and a genuine desire to make Alexandria’s parks something our community can be proud of.

Thank you, Eric, for the countless hours, hard work, and dedication you give to Alexandria. Your volunteer service is making a lasting difference in our community. 💙💛

In remembrance of September 11, 2001, Alexandria City offices will be closed on Friday, September 11, 2026.

On this day, we pause to remember the lives lost and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday citizens who answered the call during and after the attacks.

We also remember the strength, unity, and compassion shown across our nation and within communities everywhere.

May we continue to honor their memory through service, kindness, and care for one another.

IDHS' August Disaster Resource Hub is now available. The hub serves as a comprehensive resource center for individuals seeking state and federal assistance and updates related to the severe weather events that began on Aug. 11.

The hub also includes the application for the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), specifically for Aug. 11 events. Impacted Hoosiers may qualify for emergency aid grants of up to $5,000. This fund is designed to help families secure essential items like clothing and uninsured medical devices while they are displaced from their homes.
