For most of us... at least the ones who have been friends since the website was up and running... we have watched the progression of Nicky Hayden's career. From the young kid in GPs, to the World Champ, to the only American racer on the world scene. Either way, he was an ambassador to the sport and a role model to all.
Motorcycles are a way of life, to varying degrees, for all of us. We have had our bad experiences, and even lost many friends. In the end we fall back on the camaraderie and try to find happiness amongst the chaos of life.
Nicky Hayden passing away sucks. Plain and simple. He was making gains in World Superbike; and while he may not have been about to take over Jonathan Rea, he was finding his rhythm.
The sport lost more than a racer. They lost more than a Champion. They lost one of (if not the) nicest guys to ever race on two wheels. He will never be replaced and hopefully his legacy influences others to strive and reach his level of "class".
Rest easy Kentucky Kid. Tell Sic we said hello.

Old archived photo of Menso ("Busa") when he was working up to his R1. He paid his dues, but was ready to rock regardless!!!

To our fallen protectors, thank you! Some died in combat, some gave us a few more years, but to those who wore the uniform and have since passed, thank you! To Wads, to my Grandpa Helwick, to my Grandpa Keeble who was at Pearl Harbor in the Navy, thank you!
