It's been 3 years since I carried these into the studio and I'm excited to lead a Foam Rolling Workshop on April 1, 1:30-3pm at Radiance Yoga again.

Our posture while driving, working on the computer and texting can wreak havoc on our shoulders, neck and upper back. These areas are also a favorite spot for emotional tension to reside. I'll will guide you through a series of traditional yoga postures, targeted stretches and unique foam rolling skills to help you find the release that your upper body has been craving.
Foam rollers will be provided.
Price: $35

More Than A Body: Your Body Is an Instrument, Not an Ornament 10/16/2022

I'm finally getting to this book that's been on my list for a while. I think it's a must read for teen girls and women.

We are all on different journeys here and on different timetables when it comes to this kind of liberation work. But I imagine a lot of you will find it a helpful tool, wherever you are.

Happy to be heading back to the front of a classroom at Radiance Yoga on Saturday at noon. I've missed it and y'all. If you are game for some gentle yoga and it fits in your schedule, see you there or on the livestream.

Thank you for the continued emails and texts of encouragement. It seems like a good time for an update but first let me wish you all well. I hope you've had a good spring and summer and your practice is serving you well.

As I mentioned in my last update I had to take sometime off to explore treatments for arthritis in my spine and explore new ways of moving. I'm happy to say the treatments were a success and it feels so much better. But the body is funny. As soon as that was settled my hip decided it was time for some long overdue attention. Long story short- I am 4 weeks out from a hip replacement. Many of you might know I had the other hip replaced about 9 years ago (again, arthritis) and this time feels like a faster recovery. I credit Dr. Shershon at Anderson Orthopedic and going into it with a general sense of trust in my body being able to heal.

Which it is. I got on the mat this week in Christy's gentle class at Radiance and couldn't have felt more grateful for her, that space, and my practice. I'll be working to gain strength and stamina the next few months so I can, hopefully, get back to teaching.

Thank you all again for your warm wishes. Victory to our spirits!

Hi folks. First let me thank you for the messages of encouragement as I have taken a "sabbatical" from teaching yoga. I've missed the Radiance Yoga community-
the talented teachers, gracious management, and warm and funny students.

For those who didn't know, I've stepped back to take care of some pain caused by arthritis in my spine and spinal stenosis. I realized I needed the time to do some self care, explore treatments, and to learn how to do yoga with the body I now have. One bit of humor- when my doctor gave me my diagnosis he suggested I try some yoga. lol

In the past, I've always become a better teacher when I am met with an injury. I would expect this might present me with the same gift. Don't get me wrong- those closest to me have heard plenty of belly-aching. But I'm also trying to find the benefits of the obstacles put in my path.

I've also taken a bit of break from social media- again to free up time. I'll probably continue to only check my social media messages periodically.

I wish I had a magic date for you of when I'll be back in the studio but I don't. I imagine it will be first as a student, then a teacher. Please take advantage of the opportunity to learn from others. New teachers always teach us new things.

In the meantime, please take good care of yourselves and each other.

Emily
