You can decide to change and take action, but limiting beliefs will have to be unearthed in order for you to succeed in the longterm.

Anyone can DO some healthy things, some of the time, but in order to BE a healthy person you’ll need to have that identity.

Limiting beliefs and identity are two of the biggest challenges people face in body and health transformation … and most never explore or examine them … which is one reason so many people fail on their health goals…

…If you don’t believe you can succeed, you won’t …In order to prove yourself right.

A limiting belief will always win… Until we make a new decision to act differently and truly decide we’re done being “the old person.”

We have to give ourselves permission to change, grow and adapt. And we have to give ourselves grace to fall forward and keep making progress, instead of “quitting” by giving up, staying stuck and standing still.

Said in the simplest of terms: if you want to BE a healthy person, ask yourself:

“What would a healthy person do?”

…and then DO more of that today.

It’s that simple. To decide to act. And keep moving. Uncover the limiting beliefs and decide to choose a new reality.

That will help to shape your identity, behaviors and actions and mold you into the healthier happier version of yourself you always wanted to be … as long as that’s the person you truly want to BE and decide YOU CAN.

You are worth it.

How did your January go? How are your health resolutions? Are you sticking to your goals or letting them slide by the wayside?

I know it can be easy to come up with dreams and ideas of the things we’d like to accomplish … the outcomes.

But without a process that leads us to the behavior and identity changes needed to change those dreams will likely stay asleep.

…This was a recent conversation I was having with a client at the gym and I wanted to share share it with you. 🙂

You see, did you know there are 4 types of goals?

Outcome. Process. Performance. Identity.

The outcomes are easy and it’s usually where everyone starts … and ends.

“I want to lose 20 pounds.”

How though? What are you actually going to do?

“I want to be healthier.”

What does that mean? How can you be more specific?

Don’t get me wrong, outcome goals are great. But without focusing on the behaviors you need to get there - you’ll never lose the 20 pounds or get healthier or achieve the outcome goals you have.

And that’s not ok with me.

I want you to succeed. In all areas of your life.

I don’t just want to help you do the things that lead you to that brighter, healthier, happier future… I want to help you become the healthy person you truly want to be.

Change can be scary, but we go at a gentle pace that allows you to really dial in and focus on the things you can control: your behaviors, beliefs and identity. Today.

That’s why I’m opening up a few spots for a special Fresh Start February Challenge.

I want to help you achieve the health and goals you know you want to.

I’ll show you not only how TO DO it, but we will work on unlocking the healthy person you were created TO BE.

Have you ever internationally gained weight in order to build muscle and strength? (Me neither … JK!!) Well, that’s what I’ve been doing the last few months. (If you want to discuss more on muscle building, strength training and how to get results DM me.)

…But after a certain point the body needs a reset in order to lose fat, heal the gut/digestion and resensitize to the anabolic signals of muscle growth and more geeky science stuff you don’t want to know about… 😉

Enter: The Mini Cut.

Last Monday JAN 29th I weighed 200.8.
Next Monday: 196.

I’m one week in and I’m 4.8 pounds down. 💪

Some of it is not pushing food in, water/glycogen loss but most of it is that pesky fat/adipose tissue I’m trying to get rid of. 😉

And my strength levels are still increasing so I’m preserving the muscle mass I’ve built over the last few months.

I’ll likely do this mini cut for about 4-6 weeks with the goal of maybe getting under 190.

A good goal is typically .5-1% total bodyweight loss per week or 1-2.5 pounds per week depending on where someone is starting from and how aggressive/consistent they want to be.

Can I share a few client stories/WINS with you I’ve had over the years? 🙂

I hope they will inspire you as they continue to motivate me to excel at my craft of coaching.

…Initially she told she wasn’t in pain and felt well. Then a few weeks into working together (a hybrid model of online coaching and meeting at the gym) she told me she wasn’t in pain anymore…

…I reminder her of how she initially said she wasn’t … she told me that she didn’t know how bad her body actually felt until she started eating right, cutting out the processed fast food and adding in more movement and strength training.

Another client shared with me how they were tired all the time and after seeing the fast food wrappers piled up in the trash they decided to spend that money on their health instead - they’ve been preparing food at home and a lot happier with the simple switches we made.

I’ve also had people like Kelly who lost 22 pounds in 8 weeks and Dre who lost over 100 pounds in my 12 month online coaching program and fell in love with movement and strength training - this was all done remotely and I’ve been able to reach and help people locally as well as globally.

Yes, change is difficult. But doing it at the right pace, while focusing on the right things makes all the difference.

Are you ready to run towards your goals and crush 2024?

If so, let’s dive deeper into ACTION. Here’s what you can do: focus on setting behavior goals and not just outcome goals!

What you’re running towards is the outcome. You actually running towards it is the behaviors you’ll need to do in order to reach the desired outcome.

Your specific goals are unique to you and your desires but there’s something all goals have in common: a beginning and an end… Unfortunately, most people start with the end in mind but never reverse-engineer all the steps involved back to TODAY.

Have you made resolutions for this New Year? What are your goals?

Would they fall under the outcome goal or the behavior goal category?

Here are a few examples of outcome goals:

📍Lose 20 pounds
📍Get bigger arms
📍Be healthier
📍Become a better person this year

Unfortunately, these are the types of goals people set and then set themselves up for failure because these only focus on the outcomes, which we cannot entirely control.

But what we can control are the behaviors that lead to these outcomes.

Let’s look at some behaviors that would lead to the desired outcomes above:

📍Join a gym, hire a coach, follow a plan, and become accountable
📍Follow a program that prioritizes arm training and eat to support growth
📍Eat 5+ servings of vegetables daily
📍Volunteer at a homeless shelter every month

With that in mind what were some goals you’d like to accomplish?

And more importantly, what are the behaviors that lead you there?

Take some time to write down your goals, break them down into skills, then figure out one action habit that you’ll need to do daily to build that skill to reach the goal.

If your goal is fat loss this new year you’re going to need to achieve a calorie deficit. This is the only way your body will tap into the stored fat and use it as fuel.

…December is over … We’re through the Holiday Season and it’s a time where health is front of mind and people are ready to make serious change and get focused.

So if you’re feeling inspired and motivated it’s good news / those are the first 2 steps towards improving your health and taking action.

After inspiration and motivation comes clarity (an action plan to follow) and then discipline to build those actions into healthy habits that will last.

1. Inspiration.

4. Discipline/Willpower. (Make it easier on yourself here and know that some things will be harder than others helps.)
5. Healthy Habits.
And then if you get beyond that you get to
6. Passion - which can help tremendously.

That’s the cycle of ADHERENCE - which is the whole picture vs:

“I just need more motivation. Or more discipline.”

…Motivation and discipline to do what? There’s where the action plan comes in.

We’re in the home stretch of 2023, and before we know it we’ll be ringing in the New Year.

If we were having this conversation one year from now, what would be a huge win that you’d feel really good about when it comes to your health and fitness?

Take a moment to visualize how the accomplishment would look and feel on you.

Maybe you were able to lose 20 pounds and fit into your favorite clothing again.

Maybe you were able to get out of pain so you could enjoy all of your favorite activities and stop getting injured all the time.

Whatever it might be, try to transport yourself physically and emotionally to that place and soak up how great it feels. 🙂

Now, ask yourself this: “What would need to happen or change to make my dream a reality?”

Remember: Change doesn’t happen without action and a plan.

Once you understand what needs to change, you can start taking action.

December is here, and that means 2023 is right around the corner. It’s a great time to start making some plans.

Plans for the last month of 2023, and for the New Year.

Visualize an outcome you’d be really proud of achieving.

Now, think about what you’ll need to do in order to get there.
