Last weekend the XL212 Basketball All-Star Classic featured top players and coaches from North Fulton and Forsyth in a 2-day event starting with a skills competition and finishing with the main event All-Star Games.
Skills night was a hit with some real standout performances. Champions of the events included:
Obstacle Course:
Roy Winston (Alpharetta) & Jada Triplett (Centennial)
Co-Ed Team Challenge:
Terrell Dirton & Jillah Moede of Centennial HS
Spot Shot Challenge:
Natalie Sibani (Milton)
3-Point Contest:
Liam Dahlberg (Lambert) & Jada Triplett (Centennial)
Dunk Contest:
Jaylon Gamble (Alpharetta HS)
Saturday night was a thriller with the girls All-Star Game coming down to the wire as the South missed a game tying attempt as time expired falling short 59-62. Standout performances from Coach Tony Manning’s (Riverwood HS) undermanned South squad included Lovett’s Te’Erica Eason and Centennial’s Jillah Moede and Jada Triplett. The North was led by Player of the Game Caroline Bowns of North Forsyth with great performances from Ali LoPiccolo (Cambridge), McKenna Bruckman (Milton), and Loachlain Corliss (North Forsyth) leading the North, coached by Milton HS’s Coach Deb Schaefer, to victory.
The boy’s game was non-stop action with several highlight dunks and ally-oops. The South had a strong second quarter that pushed their lead to double digits, which the North squad was never able to recover from in a 81-56 final. Standout performances on Coach Ty Phillips’ (Roswell HS) South squad included Alpharetta’s star trio of Devontae Cacok, Mark Eze, and Player of the Game Jaylon Gamble, along with Chattachoochee’s Taffy Tela, and Roswell’s Trent Markwith assisting teammates and grabbing boards. The North team, coached by Coach Pete Goggin of Johns Creek HS, wasn’t without great performances including Artese Gatlin of Lambert HS, and Emerson McClung and Jordan Sloter of Cambridge HS; it just seemed to not be enough to close the gap.
A big shout out to Holloway Sports for supplying custom sublimation uniforms for all of our All-Stars. The players loved the lightweight material and slick design.
Thank you to our hosts of Lambert High School and Coach Bracco and his staff for all their help in making the event a success. Also thanks to our sponsors: Holloway Sportswear, Titan Team Sports, Stars & Strikes, Publix Supermarkets, and SpeedPro Imaging.
