Intimate, Private Boarding and Training Stable

I suppose some of us were just born to ride. Horses and ponies have saved my life in so many ways. Although, I come from a good family, being one of six brothers and sisters does not always bring much attention to just one of those siblings, that would be me, Phoebe!!

School work came hard for me, I just wanted to be on the move and not sit in a classroom. I was loved, but I wasn’t too easy, I believe. I did press on though, with a rotten pony named Spotty, to a wonderful larger pony named Mocha, then onto River Road and Bambi!! I was lucky enough to get great training along the way.

My dad was a good man, but he could also be very mean. On many lonely and sad days I could count on the big, soft neck of a horse I loved, to lean on, they were always there for me. Hearing their breath and feeling the warmth of their neck against my cheek always made me happy enough to leave my problems behind and ride!

As I made my way through high school, my parents divorce, and young adulthood ~ nothing could stop my drive to learn more about this wonderful sport. I was, again, lucky enough to ride and show with the best in the world.

There is no better sport, in my book, that bonds a person to something as satisfying, rewarding, and life fulfilling as a relationship with a horse. Whether showing, trail riding or any other discipline a rider may venture into it all comes out of the wash the same. Personal growth, self-discipline, relationship building, self-confidence, good decision building, and fun, fun, fun!

According to a British Horse Society study: The study found that more than 80 percent of horseback riders reported feeling more "cheerful, relaxed, happy, or active" after riding. Researchers suggested this might have to do with the sense of companionship that riders oftentimes report.

"They're like a pet in a way, because they're domesticated. They're not like a mule or a cow, they know who you are. They get accustomed to you, they depend on you."

Maybe all of us were born to ride! This is my great goal and what drives me now. To share this wonderful sport with all who desire it.

This has what has led me to form a vehicle to accomplish this; Phoebe Lawson Stables (PLS). I like to give individualized attention to horse and rider. Each horse has its own personality and its own way of “going” when being ridden. There are thousands of articles about how to ride a horse the “right” way. Unfortunately, that way may be the wrong way for that horse or any horse. We teach the rider not only how to ride, but which way is the best way for their horse to be happy and enjoyable.

Everything at PLS is geared forward for horse and rider to accomplish this happy road (with often many ups and downs together,) but culminating in one of the most satisfying experiences of a life time. I know!
