Float2Stroke Swim School
Float2Stroke Swim School was created in 2001 when I trained with Master Teacher Pam Young. However, my method is very much individualized to my teaching style.
Over this 18year span I have taught over 1,000 children how to be safe in the water. It is the most rewarding job I have ever done, but also a lot of work. I teach survival swimming and specialize with young children and those who have water fears. The method was developed out of Florida and was implimented after the Swimming Infant Research Program. I do not throw babies off the diving board on the first lesson. My approach is very gentle, yet firm.

I taught my last swim lesson for 2026 on Thursday August 20th. It’s always a bitter sweet moment knowing that another incredible season has come to an end. My heart is full off gratitude today for my husband who supports me without complaining, for my adult children who have sacrificed a lot so that I can run the swim school, for the grandchild that I was able to teach in session 2, for all my amazing students who pull at my heartstrings every spring & summer, for MJ who has been so supportive this season, and most of all for the incredible parents that I get to meet each season that are so dedicated to a swim program that does work “one student at a time”.

Today I had this moment at the pool that was truly magical. Dua has taken 9 lessons from me this session. She has been very anxiety ridden, scared, fearful and lots of other emotions that come with not knowing your teacher, being in someone else’s pool, wanting your mom to make it all go way & wondering why your there and questioning everything about the experience.
The only thing you can do as an instructor is hope, pray and continue to built trust with the unknown.
Today, she beat all the odds and floated all by herself in the deep end. I was blown away by her courage, her faith and watching the joy in her mother’s face was priceless. I can’t wait to see how AMAZING she will be tomorrow.

As our 2026 season comes to a close on August 14th. I personally want to thank Marissa Jade Carson for being the most incredible instructor this season.
She taught session 3 all be herself and absolutely crushed it with her incredible patience, love & dedication to the Swim School. To Blake Hogge for taking these beautiful pictures, to Daren Hogge for supporting me each season without ever complaining, for parents who are dedicated to a program that really does work and for the beautiful little people that melt my heart each season with some apprehension as they delve into a very structured, step by step program that teaches every child individually one lesson at a time. “Line Upon Line, Precept upon precept, that is how we teach our children Lisa Hogge
Also a big shout-out to Janela Bay | Full Coverage Swimwear for donating our swimming suits & supporting Float2stroke Swim School during our 2026 Season.
Babies have natural swimming instincts, such as the dive and swimming reflexes, that manifest when they are submerged in water.
Early introduction to water, ideally starting around six months, can help infants build confidence and comfort while developing basic swimming skills.
Safety is paramount: always supervise babies around water, use appropriate flotation devices, and never leave them unattended.
Water play fosters emotional bonding and trust between parents and infants, enhancing their developmental experience.
Gradual exposure and fun activities like gentle splashing and play help create positive associations with water, ensuring a joyful experience for both baby and caregiver.
Understanding key reflexes enables parents to facilitate better water experiences and prepare their infants for future swimming lessons.

Learning to swim is one of the most valuable skills a person can ever acquire. But here’s the part most parents don’t think about—the earlier a child starts, the more natural, safe, and confident they become in the water.
As a private Swim Instructor for the past 24 seasons I’ve seen this firsthand. Children who learn to swim early don’t just feel comfortable in the water… they move better, stay calmer, and build skills that last a lifetime.
Session Three starts on Monday June 29th.
