Float2Stroke Swim School
Float2Stroke Swim School was created in 2001 when I trained with Master Teacher Pam Young. However, my method is very much individualized to my teaching style.
Over this 18year span I have taught over 1,000 children how to be safe in the water. It is the most rewarding job I have ever done, but also a lot of work. I teach survival swimming and specialize with young children and those who have water fears. The method was developed out of Florida and was implimented after the Swimming Infant Research Program. I do not throw babies off the diving board on the first lesson. My approach is very gentle, yet firm.

âWe take a breath, we hold, we pull and glide. We take another breath. In between breaths, the thinking happens~about each stroke, each kick and each breath.
As we become better swimmers, there is less conscious thinking about swimming and our thoughts are released, free to wander as they may and we start to notice the temperature of the water, how the body has the ability to truly be free and that a body can in turn develop true intimacy with the water.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL LEARN TO SWIM DAY
Did you know that 50% of Americans do not know how to swim? Like learning how to ride a bike or basic cooking, swimming is a life-saving skill and everyone should know how to be safe in open water.
Drowning is the second biggest cause of accidental deaths in America.
There is absolutely no downside to learning how to swim. Whether itâs the summer dip in your nearby pool or swimming the backstroke with your best friend⌠Every child must have the opportunity to learn how to swim.
Use code STROKE2026 and start your summer off right by making swimming lessons on the top of your summer program.

The most beautiful thing about running Float2stroke Swim School is teaching babies to swim during their first week of lessons. They truly are natural little âswimmersâ and I never get tired of watching a baby dance in the water đŚ

National Swim Day
Saturday May 16th
Since 2011 A nationwide campaign was designed to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim. It takes place annually on the Saturday the week before the unofficial start of summer: Memorial Day weekend.
Families nationwide are invited to participate by attending a local event, teaching their children to swim with at-home instruction, visiting a community pool as a family or enrolling children in swim lessons at a local facility.

This swim season has definitely been about the little things, the quiet victories, the smiles on parents faces, lots of smiley face stamps, many drops of of diving boards, a lot of high fives, huge victories for Adam Zolman who found his float this season, meeting Jonny Earl who has spinal bifida learn to embrace and love the water, watching a fad shed a small tear when his nine month old baby boy ROCKED it in the third session. So many miracles and so many more yet to come.
marissa_jade._ was an incredible teacher and this summer I learned once again that I truly am the luckiest to be surrounded by such beautiful children and dedicated parents. One child at a time, one step to climb, one goal to set and one more season to learn and grow from. Summer is my favorite time of year. I will savor the sunshine because âsunshine on my shoulder truly does make me happy.â
