WHAT A NIGHT! 🥋🔥

Huge thank you to Rich Sab for spending Wednesday night on the mats with us at Strategic BJJ! We worked stand-up passing, leg drags, pressure, details, and plenty of those little adjustments that make you immediately rethink what you’ve been doing. 😂

Even better was seeing students from our team come together, learn, drill, ask questions and put the techniques to work. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the seminar, and especially to Sab for sharing his time and knowledge with us. We definitely came away with some new tools for the toolbox.

This is what we love about Jiu-Jitsu: there is ALWAYS more to learn.

We had to give a shoutout to our own Kelly McLaughlin, who was recently featured by Zion Lutheran School for his work as their School Resource Officer! The people who train beside us every week are so much more than teammates. They’re teachers, first responders, parents, business owners, community leaders, and people making a difference every single day.

Kelly, we love seeing you out there keeping kids safe, building relationships, and apparently getting talked into some outdoor fun on a VERY hot day! 😂 We’re proud to have you on our mats and even prouder to see the impact you’re making off of them.

I wanted to take a minute to say something about the fights last night at Shamrock FC. We've already talked about our competitors. They both put in a lot of work and put it on the line. I wanted to also make a comment about the person behind the scenes of our MMA team, Coach Jon Rosener. Not only is he a hard working family man, but he is a competitor, and founding member of our team. Coach Jon does all the work behind the scenes; prepping our athletes, working with promoters to get good matchups, advising fighters before and after fights, going to weigh-ins, and cornering them the night of. The majority of this work is "extra" that Jon puts in. he doesn't just teach class. He is a leader and mentor who gives of his free time to help his team succeed. I'm really blessed to be able to work with him!

Tyrone stepped into the cage and delivered a dominant performance, earning the victory by second-round TKO!

Jamison did not get the win, but he showed everyone exactly what heart looks like. He may have been knocked down, but every single time, he found the strength to get back up and keep fighting. A fight record will never tell the full story of that kind of courage.

Both men gave everything they had and represented Strategic BJJ - Alton with strength, grit, and heart. Tyrone and Jamison, we are incredibly proud of you both. It is an honor to have you on our team!
