This weekend marks one of the hardest moments I’ve had to endure since starting this business over 7 years ago. Saturday we said our official goodbye to Van, as he heads off for professional development and training (all that we’re allowed to say for now).
I’ve been suppressing feelings for the last few months as we dreaded this day and now that it’s finally here, I’m more torn than I ever thought I’d be. We are all so excited and happy for him as pursues another mega dream of his. But also very heavy hearted knowing that he won’t be around anymore and that this marks the end of a short but impactful legacy here.
When he first applied here for a Personal Training job I posted 4.5 years ago, I had no idea who this kid was. But the second I met him I had a gut feeling that he was different and that I should make him a part of the team somehow.
He not only became a phenomenal Trainer, Fascial Stretch Therapist, and class instructor, he became my business partner as we opened a sister company in State College, and most importantly, he became one of my best friends.
We have shared the same 2,600 square foot space every day for almost 4.5 years, working with clients, working out ourselves, talking, and goofing around enough for a lifetime. We spent two full weeks down in Arizona together during our Fascial Stretch Therapy education. We endured Covid together. We opened a second business together. We harassed Tyler Magaha a lot together. I’m really going to miss using the word “together” in the present form from this point on.
He is what every professional in this field should be and then some: kind-hearted, funny, personable, caring, empathetic, selfless, hard working, patient, adaptable, trusting, and countless others.
Over the last several weeks, I’ve watched client after client cry and hug and share memories as they’ve said goodbye and it’s so perfectly proven the deep impact he’s had on Revival and the people he’s worked with. I’ve watched him become one of the most elite Trainer’s this area will ever see. I’ve watched him become a trusted friend and reliable comedian for so many. I’ve watched him grow into a polished, well-rounded practitioner. I’ve watched him become a husband and a dad while he was here. And I couldn’t be more proud of everything he’s done and will be doing in the future.
I can’t express enough how much I’ve appreciated my time with Van over these last few years and how much he’s trusted me and has put up with my particularness. I’m honored to have his legacy stand at Revival and will always cherish our time together.
Forever thankful for his friendship and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. We will certainly pray for you as you tackle this next chapter of life and can’t wait to watch how things unfold for you. Really gonna miss you buddy.
May God bless ya Van-O
See ya, love ya
