The racing season concluded a couple of weeks ago, and we just haven't found sufficient words to describe our season.
We ended up third in the trainer standings by purse money, and our promising two year old ended up as the highest money earner for the Prairie Meadows season. This was our best season (by purse money) EVER, and the most promising young horse we've had in the barn in a long time, maybe ever.
We owe a shoutout to our small but mighty crew, long hours are not for everyone, but they prove to be worth it. This stable is mostly a family ran operation, but we have people like Carlos, Cheyenne and Xavier who jump in and help out during the summer. As far as we're concerned, they are family.
An even bigger shoutout to our clients. A lot of our clients are more like friends and family than business partners. A small tight knit group of people who all value their horses and put their horses health first...those are our kind of people. We'd argue we have the best group of owners in the business.
Between owners, friends, and family... we had no less than 50 people at the races on the final night of the season. It was windy, rainy and cold, and they all drove hours to sit outside in the weather and be there to support McShane Racing. We're so lucky to have so much support.
And the biggest shoutout to our horses. None of this is possible without them. Everyone is turned out in pasture enjoying some down time and time to just be a horse. They tried hard all summer, and they deserve it. The only thing more beautiful than watching them cross the wire first is watching them run across a green pasture.
Stay tuned - we have a few post-racing updates to post this fall, and in a few short months we'll have babies hitting the ground!
