Proud to continue to shine a light on our past Goldbugs. Looking forward to a great night honoring these 3 men as we introduce our 2nd Hall of Honor Class at halftime tonight.

Congratulations to our 2026 Hall of Honor Inductees!

Join us at tomorrow evening at Ranger Field, Alva vs Chisholm, as we recognize and celebrate three exceptional Goldbugs and their accomplishments!

▪️Don Wiebener - Class of 1944
Don Wiebener graduated from Alva High School in 1944, where he was a two way starter for the Goldbugs at offensive and defensive tackle. During his senior season, Don was named to the All State team.
Following high school, Don signed with Oklahoma State University, where he continued his football career as a two way player for the Cowboys. During the 1945–1946 season, the Cowboys earned a trip to the Sugar Bowl, where Don started for Oklahoma State. Following his college career, Don was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. However, Don informed the team that he was ready to hang up his cleats and return home to farm.

Don also served in the 45th National Guard. During his time in the Guard, Bill Short signed Don up to participate in the 45th's annual boxing tournament. With no prior experience in the ring, Don went on to become the heavyweight division champion with a perfect 4–0 record, recording four knockouts. Don's accomplishments on the football field, in the ring, and in his service to his community are a testament to his determination, toughness, and commitment.

▪️Kelly Pulliam - Class of 1972
Kelly Pulliam graduated from Alva High School in 1972, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. In football, Kelly was selected as an All District player and named an All State alternate.
Kelly continued his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in education. While at NWOSU, he was a member of the Ranger baseball team for four years and was named All Conference his senior year. In 1981, Kelly earned his Master of Education degree from NWOSU.

This year marks Kelly's 50th year in education. Throughout his career, he has had a passion for teaching high school history and coaching football and baseball. He has continued to give back to Alva Public Schools, and this year marks his 14th year serving as a substitute teacher for the district.

Kelly's impact on athletics extends beyond his playing and coaching days. He spent 45 years as an official, working football and basketball games at the highest levels, including officiating in state playoff competitions in both sports. Kelly's dedication to education, athletics, and the Alva community has made a lasting impact on generations of students and athletes.

▪️Jay Reichenberger - Class of 1983
Jay Reichenberger graduated from Alva High School in 1983. During his senior season, he was an All District offensive and defensive lineman for the Goldbugs.
Following high school, Jay continued his football career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he was a four year starter. During his time as a Ranger, Jay was named OIC First Team Offensive Lineman and earned All District 9 First Team honors as an offensive lineman.

Jay currently resides in Oklahoma City and remains grateful for the coaches, teammates, and family members who played an important role in his football career and his life. In particular, Jay expressed his appreciation for Ricky Obermeyer and the impact he had on him. Jay is also grateful to the Alva Goldbug Football Hall of Honor committee for selecting him for this recognition.

Goldbug Fans! 🎗
Sooner Plains Ag Company of Fairview has graciously reached out to help support one of our very own Ladybugs during the Fairview vs. Alva football game this Friday night.

This is what community is all about , two communities coming together as one to support this wonderful young lady and her family as she courageously fights Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.

We are incredibly thankful to Sooner Plains Ag Company and the Fairview community for joining the Alva community in showing their love and support. 💛🖤
