If you’re a numbers person would the combination of 13 and 666 be concerning to you?
I’m late. Way late.
Late February until mid April is busy with big runs.
I haven’t posted about all the fantastic places we’ve been recently, but let me start with this weekend.
Austin, Texas.
Capital 10,000– 49th running.
Biggest race in Texas.
Fifth or sixth largest 10K in America.
You need to run it!

Texas has 254 counties. That’s the most of any US state, by a lot.
There are a handful of people who have run in every county of Texas. Those folks are members of the Texas 254 Running Club.
This past week, on Friday the 13th, Willie Lindsey became the 7th person to join that club. On that day, several dedicated runners gathered in Saint Augustine TX, to help Willie finish his 254th. This is a big deal, folks!
The runners were fun, the weather was perfect and breakfast was delicious.

Exploring More of East Texas:
Tomorrow, a Texas 254 Club member is going to finish his last county. That’s the reason for this trip. It’s a big damn deal!
But today, I had a chance to explore Shelby County and Shelbyville, TX again.
My number 3 baby’s name is Shelby. She’s super cool.
I HAVE to stop here, in her honor, anytime I’m nearby.

Final thoughts before we left this Hawaiian paradise behind.
-The races were successful.
-This race production company gives incredible medals and shirts
-The celebration drinks at the Tiki Hut were top-notch.
It was 78° when our red-eye took off Friday night and 7° with blowing snow when my last flight landed Saturday evening.
Back to reality.

Well folks, I need some help here.
For this trip, there were two races on the island of Kauai.
The first race was held on the grounds of the Smith Family Luau.
The second race was held at Kapa’a Beach park on the Pacific coast. I’m having some trouble deciding which one was more torturous.
Here are three pictures from each.
Why don’t you guys let me know which of these horrible places was more demanding and arduous?

After spending time on the big island, it was time to go to work. We took a short flight over to Kauai, for some races. This was the business part of the trip.
Kauai is sometimes called the garden island, because it is much less developed than most of the other islands. Still, lots of great sites, along with a ton of loose chickens.

The first sunset we saw on the big island was so amazing.
After seeing that, we tried to catch the sunset every night we were there.
Plus, there were so many other things to see. Here are a few more pics from the Big Island.
