Hey there,
We talk a lot about training… but not enough about recovery.
If you want to get stronger, feel better in the air, and actually progress, recovery isn’t optional. It’s where the progress happens.
When you train—especially aerial—you’re creating stress on the body. Muscles, tendons, nervous system… all of it takes a hit.
Recovery is what rebuilds you stronger.
And the #1 piece of recovery?
Sleep.
Not supplements. Not stretching. Not more classes.
Sleep.
Why sleep matters
During deep sleep:
Your body releases growth hormone (this is what repairs muscle and tissue)
Your nervous system resets (this affects coordination, grip, timing)
Your brain processes movement patterns (this is how skills “click” later)
Studies show:
Getting less than 6 hours of sleep can reduce physical performance and slow reaction time
Sleep deprivation increases injury risk and decreases strength output
Most adults need 7–9 hours for proper recovery
If you’ve ever come into class feeling off, weak, or frustrated… there’s a good chance sleep played a role.
Fixing bad sleep habits (without overcomplicating it)
You don’t need a perfect routine. You just need a few solid anchors.
1. Go to bed and wake up at the same time
Your body runs on a rhythm. Consistency matters more than perfection.
2. Cut screens 30–60 minutes before bed
Phones = stimulation. Blue light delays melatonin (your sleep hormone).
3. Keep your room cool and dark
Your body sleeps better when your core temperature drops.
4. Watch caffeine timing
Caffeine can stay in your system for 6–8 hours. That afternoon coffee might still be affecting you at night.
5. Get sunlight early in the day
Morning light helps set your internal clock and improves sleep quality later.
6. Don’t train hard right before bed
Give your body time to come down.
Here’s the truth
You can train as much as you want…
But if you’re not recovering, you’re just stacking fatigue.
If you are recovering well, everything gets easier:
Strength builds faster
Skills feel cleaner
Your body feels better
This is the part most people overlook.
But it’s also the part that changes everything.
Happy Flying...
You gotta work up to this one 😎
