The Mount Rushmore of Boxing? The résumé makes the argument. 🥊
If greatness is measured by who you beat, the quality of your opposition, and success across multiple weight classes, the conversation starts with:
Harry Greb. Sam Langford. Sugar Ray Robinson. Henry Armstrong.
These four legends defeated more International Boxing Hall of Fame opponents than anyone in boxing history.
🥊 Harry Greb — 16 Hall of Fame wins (most ever)🥊 Sam Langford — 11 Hall of Fame wins🥊 Sugar Ray Robinson — 10 Hall of Fame wins🥊 Henry Armstrong — 10 Hall of Fame wins
Greb fought from middleweight into the light heavyweight and heavyweight ranks. Langford went from lightweight all the way to heavyweight. Robinson started as a lightweight, ruled welterweight and middleweight, and challenged at light heavyweight. Armstrong became the only fighter to hold world championships in three divisions simultaneously. They achieved this in an era with one recognized world champion per division and only eight weight classes. . Being champion meant beating the best figihter in the division. Today, boxing has 17 weight classes and four recognized major world titles per division, creating far more opportunities to defeat fighters carrying the label of “world champion” and build championship statistics.
And before anyone says, “There’s no footage of Greb or very little of Langford,” remember this:
History isn’t learned only through film—it is learned through credible historical records. Historians don’t need video of Battle of Gettysburg to know what happened. Boxing historians rely on newspaper accounts, official records, firsthand reports, and the work of respected organizations like the International Boxing Hall of Fame—one of the most credible authorities in the sport.
The greatest fighters aren’t determined by YouTube highlights.
They’re determined by the quality of the opponents they defeated, what they accomplished in their era, and the historical record they left behind.
The opposition. The versatility. The résumé.
Harry Greb. Sam Langford. Sugar Ray Robinson. Henry Armstrong.
The Mount Rushmore of Boxing. 🏆.

Mastering positioning and angles is one of the greatest separators in boxing. Power and speed are incredible assets, but they become far less effective if you’re out of position. The fighter who consistently wins the battle of angles controls distance, creates openings, takes away an opponent’s offense, and lands cleaner shots with less effort.
Great positioning makes average speed look fast and average power feel devastating because your opponent never sees the punches coming from the right place. You don’t have to be the strongest or the fastest—you have to be in the best position at the right time.
