Very excited to be offering a pre school intro to karate program this summer with the Amesbury Rec department!

-Shaolin Kempo Karate combines the linear explosiveness of traditional Karate, the five animals of Shaolin Kung Fu, and the core effectiveness of Kempo. Join Sensei Zach Mauro to learn a comprehensive blend of strikes, blocks, and self defense techniques. Each day students will play many martial arts based games while learning the fundamentals. On the last day they will celebrate by breaking wood boards and earning their white belts!

Some highlights from our Spring Black Belt Ceremony we held on Saturday! After a full day of testing our candidates finished off their test with a ceremony to demonstrate some of the skills they’ve been working on. These 3 really left it all on the mat and made everyone so proud!🥋

In our Turtles Classes (3-5) we like to talk about the difference between when it’s appropriate to have “silly” fun and when it’s time for “focused” fun. Lots of Karate practice requires focus to improve. After staying focused in class we like to end with a little game time. This is called bridge tag, and it’s definitely an example of when it’s okay to be a little bit more silly! 🥋

Throwback Thursday! 🥋 Here are a couple photos from Kaizen Martial Arts at last year’s Newburyport Family Day — featuring board breaking, mini karate lessons, and decorate-your-own headband crafts with Sensei Zach and Shihan Henry. Such a fun day for kids and families!

We’re still accepting vendors for Family Day — don’t miss your chance to be part of it!
