We take people into the woods and do things with them. Like our motto says, we take people out into the woods and do things with them. Anyone can join.
Should you be scared? .....Nope! We do all sorts of outdoor activities: hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, whitewater kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and we will continue caving when the White Nose Syndrome affecting bats is gone. We have a gear locker stuffed with gear for rent. We have access to a mountain wheelchair, and other adaptable

All of October, the Amherst Survival Center will be accepting donations so that they can continue to support our community and provide free meals and healthcare to those that need it. October 20th from 4-7pm, UMOC will be hosting a hike with the help of UMass UNICEF to help raise donations for this cause, we are asking that participants donate to the center if they are are to. If you can’t make the hike, we highly encourage you to consider making a donation as since 2019, the center has provided over 1.3 million meals and the need for these meals have gone up 61%. Sean Lutz
UMOCer, Climber, Mt. Willard Regular, Roof Whiskey Sipper, Instigator, and a great friend. These are things that you can use to describe Sean but he was so much more than words can ever capture.
Those of us lucky to have known Sean can probably admit he’s gotten on our nerves only to make us forget why we were mad with his patronizing jokes and infectious laughter. Sean was charismatic and always down to climb even if it meant skipping class.
He was eager to share his love for climbing and the outdoors and has taught a generation of UMOCers to climb at CRG.
Sean truly cared about UMOC and despite never failing anyones mock leads he helped us grow as individuals and as a club. The leadership he exhibited and his desire to challenge himself and others is something that we will try to carry us.
We ask that whoever got the chance to meet Sean take a moment to write out your favorite memory you shared with him. Be sure to include the little parts that made Sean the person he was, good, annoying or anything else.
While Sean may no longer be with us today, all of us who got to know him will carry a piece of him with them where ever they go.

UMASS GIVES is happening this FRIDAY!! The event takes place from April 28th to the 29th. within that time period our goal is to raise the most money and get the most number of unique donations.
our POWER HOUR will occur on April 28th from 6-7pm! If we win that power hour, thus get more unique donations then all the other clubs doing UMass Gives, we get a bonus $2,000!!
