What name is ruined for you?
Mine’s probably Ashley.
Not that I don’t know some great ones, but I’ve known too many terrible ones.

Do you ever find yourself wishing you could escape the world?
This weekend, I returned to Disneyland with some girlfriends. In the “before times” it was my favorite escape pod. When I’d get stressed about work (or politics) I’d focus on perfecting ride photo poses with my friends and enjoy the immersive atmospheres the park creates.
Despite weather and sore muscles, I always come home feeling refreshed, revived, and ready to face the world.
I learned that the thing my clients need most is someone who understands how easy it is to get stuck in stress mode and stuck in the work and can help them find an escape.
Do you have an escape pod? Somewhere or something you do to make the world melt away? Share it with me in the comments.

Comparison is the thief of joy.
As the Emmy noms have recently come out, I see a lot of writers getting discouraged by how great the scripts are for these shows as compared to their drafts.
Reading these scripts are a good learning tool, BUT we have to remember that their scripts have gone through many drafts, a whole writer’s room, and network notes to get to the polished version we’re reading.
We’re not seeing those crappy first drafts that never make it off the writer’s computer.
So study them to learn from them and use that to improve your drafts, but don’t compare your drafts to theirs — nothing good will come of it.
What’s the best script you’ve read this year? Produced or unproduced.
