What's your "why" for getting stronger, faster, smarter, more successful, or ? There are no wrong answer. Use the "why" as motivation to end each day a little better than the start. YOU and death are the only ones who are keeping you from starting now, and everyone starts somewhere.

FREE personal/group strength training and kettlebell skill development is offered through the end of 2021. Instead of compensation, we would request direct donations be made to either The Roscoe Fund or Flint Animal Cancer Center at CSU VTH. We are not affiliated with either organization. There are a couple caveats regarding frequency and training location (if not via Zoom). If interested please reach out via our website with your information and I'll make contact to work out the details. https://www.flyingironstrength.com/

Unfortunately the November 13-14 kettlebell clinics are cancelled. A family emergency came up which will require our attention through the time period.

Lifting platform is serviceable and nearing 100% completion! Did I go overboard on the screw grid between the wedge of 5mm plywood and the MDF? YES! This platform will need to be stiff enough to not break in half or shear the screws or glue apart when it propped up on its side so we can get the truck in the garage. We just need to find a good solution before the snow comes to lift it up. I’m sure there’s a bracket with handles of sorts I can find somewhere. Or maybe just a pair of comalongs and straps.

I created a “map” of where my screws through the MDF to the wedge were so I could ensure I didn’t later make a hole in the top layer of mat/maple to a screw head below.

The mats and maple top layer were then placed and pilot holes drilled before screwing down. For the mats, each screw was 1” from the edge and 1” down from the lip of the 5mm wedge. This is because I wanted to ensure I gave the bumper plates every opportunity not to land on a screw head, even through they were countersunk. The maple was screwed down 1-1/2” from the side edges and 1” down from the lips of the wedge. I used a couple extra screws evenly spaced at both the head and foot of the platform as well as 1” above and below the seam of where the MDF pieces met perpendicular to the maple/mats.

All that remains now is to do a couple trial runs of painting the logo onto some scrap maple to make aure we get the hang on it before going big. Then put a coat of poly on the maple.

Until then, we may as well start lifting! And yes… those are Guardians of the Galaxy 2 pajamas. And no, I haven’t seen it yet so no spoilers please.

For those who'll be participating at the Fall StrongFirst Tactical Strength Challenge at LongevityLab on 10/30/21, be sure to understand the standards. TNT Adventure Fit has several great videos of common pitfalls to avoid during the three events. They are geared towards judges, but anyone participating can learn the easy way by making small adjustments to their technique in home stretch of training as opposed the hard way of getting a no-rep at the event.
