A double lung transplant at age 25 gave him 16 more years—years he filled with love, laughter, and an unshakable commitment to helping others.

Troy wasn’t just a survivor of cystic fibrosis—he was a champion for those living with it. His battle led to a change in Alaska law, making it possible for adults with CF to receive life-saving transplants. He turned his struggle into advocacy, and his story into hope.

Pre-Registration | Lost Lake Run 04/01/2025

LOST LAKE RUN LOTTERY NOW OPEN.

The lottery will be open April 1 through midnight April 5, 2025 (Alaska Time). Please read on for details and the link for the lottery.

NOTE: If you have already registered for the 2025 Lost Lake Run (Legends, Teams, or Top-Three Finishers), please disregard this message.

The Lost Lake Run is conducted on a National Park trail. Our race permit limits the number of participants that can be on the trail each year.

The race entry fee is a non-refundable and non-transferable registration fee.

Please be certain you read and understand the Terms and Conditions. In particular, please be certain that you understand our policy regarding refunds, exchanges, transfers, use of audio equipment on the trail, pets on the trail, and trail use restrictions.

The Lottery

Individual pre-registrations are now open and will remain open until midnight April 5, 2025. During this time, you can go to the web site and pre-register using your name, date of birth, gender, and email address. A UNIQUE EMAIL IS REQUIRED FOR EACH PARTICIPANT. YOU CANNOT USE THE SAME EMAIL FOR TWO OR MORE PARTICIPANTS. As an example: If you have one email address that you use for both husband and wife, you will need to use a different email address for one of you. You can pre-register multiple times using the same email address, but there is only one email address allowed per participant. Also, please use only one unique email per participant. Using two or more emails for the same person does not increase your odds of being selected, but it does make the accounting much more difficult. Each pre-registration requires a $12 fee. If you are selected in the random drawing, your registration fee will be $120.

Pre-registration closes at midnight April 5, 2025. Lottery winners names will randomly be selected from the pool of pre-registrants. An entrant, if selected in the lottery, may only receive one race registration spot, regardless of how many entries they have put into the lottery. Increasing your chances of winning using multiple emails does not legitimize the holding of two registration spots by one individual.

After pre-registration closes at midnight April 5, names will be randomly selected from those that have pre-registered. You can only be selected once, so if you did submit multiple pre-registrations, the other pre-registrations will be removed from the eligible pool of candidates once you have been selected.

On April 6, 2025 I will send out emails to all of the pre-registrants letting them know if they were selected, or if they are on the wait list.

If you are on the wait list you will be told what number you are on the list. Unfortunately, because of the popularity of the Lost Lake Run, there are very few registrations offered from the wait list.

If you are selected, you will be sent a registration link to the email address you provided. You will have until midnight April 10, 2025 to complete your registration process.

If there are some folks that do not complete the registration process by midnight April 10, those registrations will be offered to the waiting list.

We are looking for Volunteers for the 2024 Lost Lake Run. We have a need for about 12 more volunteers. If you can volunteer, please see details below. The dates are August 23-25.

Being a Lost Lake Run volunteer entails the following:

• Volunteers will be needed from 5 PM Friday August 23, 2024 through Noon Sunday August 25, 2024.

• For those that need a place to stay in Seward, we can provide you with a room for Friday night (8/23/23) and Saturday night (8/24/23). You will be asked to share a room with another volunteer. If you have a preferred roommate, this can be included in the registration that follows below.

• We will provide food for you on Friday evening (spaghetti feed), Saturday during the race (BBQ), and Sunday Brunch.

• Friday we need your help from 5 PM to 8 PM.

• Saturday is a LONG day, starting at 6 AM and finishing at 4 PM. We will have coffee available for you on Saturday morning.

• Each volunteer will be assigned specific tasks. The tasks are outlined in the Volunteer Manual that is distributed the week prior to the Lost Lake Run.

• There will be a zoom meeting from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. The link for the meeting will be sent to the email you provide when registering.

• We ask all volunteers to attend the Sunday brunch debrief at the Resurrection Roadhouse at 10 AM Sunday (8/25/24).

Free Registration Offered for a Day of Clearing Trail

We are looking for Trail Clearing volunteers for the 2024 Lost Lake Run. We have had a few last-minute drops and we have room for 10 (now 8) additional trail clearers.

We will meet at the Lost Lake Run Trailhead at 8 am on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Here is a link to the location: https://goo.gl/maps/YBJjUBi4s9ycF4ai8

We will be on the trail from 8 am until 2 pm, then back in the parking lot at the trailhead and eating pizza by 2 pm. I will bring pizza and bottled water to refuel you after your day of clearing.
In the past, we have had some folks come for a few hours and then leave. We are unable to provide free registration to anyone that cannot complete the full day. I insist that everyone meet their full obligation.

I will bring some w**d wackers and a brush cutter. If you have a w**d wacker that you can bring, that makes the day much faster and easier. I will be providing 2-cycle gas for the w**d wackers. I also will have various sizes of w**d wacker line, but it would be best to bring your own if you can. Also, if you have a brush cutter and can bring that, it makes a huge difference during trail clearing. If the brush cutter is really heavy, possibly we can pair you with someone that has a w**d wacker and you can trade off during the day.

I will bring enough rakes for those that won’t be w**d wacking. I will also bring some bug spray, but if you can bring your favorite, that is always best.

Dress for all types of weather. I have seen it go from sunshine to pouring rain and back to sunshine on the same day.

For those that complete the trail clearing, I will send you a registration link to register for the Lost Lake Run on Sunday, August 4th. Your registration will be fully compensated -- no charge!
