Caring for families during their birth journey has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It truly is an honor to be with people as they go through one of the most pivotal times of their lives, meeting their baby. The power, strength, resilience, joy, love, and laughter in the birthing room is aw inspiring every time.
But life has shifted for me and my family this past year, and I’ve had to make the hard decision to step back from birth, and shift into more postpartum support services for the foreseeable future.
Luckily, I now work with an incredible team of doulas who make it possible to still offer birth support services. So instead of me (Hays) providing the birth support, it will be them, with me in the background offering guidance and input along the way.
So meet (from left to right) Clarice who will be doing birth and postpartum after January 2027, Kim who does postpartum, Hays (me) who is the owner of EBA and will be doing mostly postpartum, Christine who is our incredible backup doula, and Rebecca who does birth and postpartum!
We are so honored to be by your side and walk this journey with you ❤️

I just got the sweetest review from a client who I was back-up for their primary doula, when she was at another birth 🥰🥹

Health care in the United States is increasingly team-based, and doulas—who often provide emotional, physical, and educational support for patients during birth, the postpartum period, and beyond—are valuable members of many care teams.
ACOG’s new clinical guidance encourages ob-gyn collaboration with doulas and gives ob-gyns the tools they need to better understand a doula’s role. It also highlights the importance of stronger partnerships between clinicians and doulas, which can provide vital support across the lifespan—including during and after pregnancy—and can lead to better patient outcomes.

Every year I recertify as a doula, to confirm I am still practicing, and have the necessary skills to support laboring parents. I know what I’m doing! 😉
