The AK Thorns went up against a tough ECNL 2011 girls team for their 1st match, they played well and had a great finish of 0-4 against Heat FC ECNL RL team from Nevada. Keep up the great work ladies!!

Big Congratulations to Executive Director and Coach Jo Shriver Reid!
Coach Jo is among the very few and only soccer player to have their Jersey retired at Bettye Davis East High School. Some (and we mean some.. wish we had the complete list!) of her accomplishments include state championships, playing division 1 soccer, nationally ranked and champion footgolfer, and Executive Director of Anchorage Youth Soccer Club. The AYSC family is so proud of you!

We are excited to announce 2 new coaches to our staff at AYSC! Please help welcome them to the AYSC family.
Shelby Zimmerman - 2015/16 Girls Assistant Coach
Shelby was born in Austin Texas and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, playing club soccer for Cook Inlet Soccer Club up until High school where she played for the Dimond girls varsity team all 4 years with 2 state championships. Shelby is currently training for her collegiate soccer career. She will be playing for Trinity Valley Community College in Athens Texas. She is looking to receive her kinesiology and nutrition degree to one day help youth live a healthy lifestyle physically and mentally.
Rachel Leisher - Assistant Coach
Rachel grew up in Maryland and moved to Alaska in 2023. Rachel played competitive soccer growing up and was a four-year member of the varsity girls' soccer team in high school. Rachel played soccer for five years at Millersville University, an NCAA Division II school in Pennsylvania, and served her last season as team captain. Rachel has earned a Masters in Social Work and currently works as a hospital social worker. When not on the field, Rachel can be found exploring Alaska, hanging out with friends, and exercising.
