Congratulations to our Alaska Rush 2008 boys! Great showing at the USYS Nationals. The quarterfinal was a nail biter with the team coming up short by one goal to continue onto the semi finals. We are so proud of this team and our coaches! Congratulations Coach Nate Stoval and Coach Chris McKay! Many of our 2008 boys are headed to college! Good Luck to all of you. Alaska Rush News - Today we say goodbye to our beloved coach Brad Horton who is moving to Chicago to continue his coaching. Brad came to Alaska Rush 3 years ago after a decade of building competitive soccer in Anchorage and Wasilla. Over that time he has served as Executive Director, Director of Coaching, and Recreational Director across multiple youth soccer organizations — giving him a rare, end-to-end understanding of what it takes to build a great club.

If there could be any success story it’s Brad and his Rush 2012 Boys. Brad began coaching them 3 years ago where they were in need of some strong coaching and lost almost every game. Through the years, Brad grew the Rush 2012 boys group to a consistent 40 players where he coached two 2012 Boys teams. He always believed in the bigger picture and never let a loss get in the way teaching many life lessons along the way. The Development of each player and keeping many playing soccer was his specialty.

A textbook story happened over these years. Brad never gave up on his team, and most recently led his team to multiple tournaments wins to include a Regional Championship, winning USYS PC Regionals in Boise, ID and earning a berth to USYS PC Nationals, in Kansas and forever launching this team to the next level.

As a player, Brad competed in the inaugural season of the US Soccer Development Academy with the Chicago Fire Academy, played four years of NCAA D1 soccer at Northern Illinois University, and then two years with the Chicago Fire PDL — the reserve team for the Chicago Fire MLS squad. He is a 2009-2010 inductee of the Peter L. Johnson Sports Hall of Fame (Sycamore High School, Sycamore, IL).

"Soccer has always been my life and I knew I would eventually make the move to coaching when I was finished playing. This game can teach us a lot about ourselves and others — a melting pot of cultures that create one beautiful game. I love to pass down the passion."

Brad will be so missed. Alaska Soccer is so lucky to have had Brad Horton share is passion with our Rush Family. Coach Brad, Alaska Rush wishes you all the best. Good Luck Coach!

PC Nationals Day 2! Tough day with our teams playing in the almost 100 degrees. Our three Alaska teams battled hard with a 2012 Girl win, a 2009 Boy tie and our 2012 Boy close loss to so cal. Stay tuned for Day 3 and who will be moving onto the semi finals! Go Alaska Rush!
