Epically failed at taking photos. In fact John and I got none together and none at the finish.
But we did it and the view was forth it!
John completed 50 miles, while the amount I did is up for debate. Signed up for a 50k, got an email saying it was gonna be more like 35, and then my watch said 38…. So like who knows
Shout out to my amazing in-laws for supporting us and watching Tahoe all day. Seeing him at each aid station was honestly the highlight of the day for me.
Shout out to my incredible husband for starting the race with me & then actually finishing the race with me. I’m slow and I was hurting. He actually caught me with about 3 miles to go and decided to finish the race with me - even if it meant going my super slow pace.
In fact I went so slow that I earned myself a butter knife. Winners of this race get a massive butcher knife…… those that get DFL (dead fu***ng last) get a butter knife 😅😂 legit the knife says “DFL” on it.
I might be slow (John ran 50 in the time it took me to run 35-38) and I might have gotten last but I did it - and considering running is not my thing, I’m happy 😊

Seminar #1 as a Red shirt with and at
Honestly I’m struggling to put into words how incredible that weekend was and how on cloud nine it felt getting to wear a red shirt & call myself a part of staff for the first time!
Massive shout out to all the athletes, affiliates, mentors and fellow trainers that helped me get here ❤️

Day 13: Eureka to TAHOE!
Today was a long day in the car but it was worth it. We brought Tahoe to his name sake. Lol
We also got to drive through Lassen Volcanic National Park. Didn’t get to hike, as they only allow dogs on the pavement and it was far too hot for Tahoes paw pads. But honestly even just driving through we saw so much of the park!
We saw the sulfur hot spots (and smelled them too, gross), lake Helen, Emerald Lake, Lassen peak, brokeoff mountain and so much more
It was beautiful, but also really sad to see just how much of the park was lost in 2021 to a forest fire and to see how much as changed since Johns 4K team ran through it in 2015.
Tomorrow we take a day off from driving to relax and enjoy the lake.

Day 9-10: Penticton to Brinnon to Portland!
Leaving Penticton proved to be difficult as unbeknownst to us there was a bike race happening that morning that started less than five minutes from our Air BNB. It took over an hour to just find out way out of the city!
When we finally got out, we stopped for breakfast at Bliss in peachland. The pastries there were amazing and the water front views was the perfect contrast to the traffic we had experienced just a little before.
From there we headed to the boarder and officially made our way into the lower 48! We tried to relive part of my 4K bike ride from 13’ but the port Townsend ferry had other plans. Pretty surreal to think it’s officially been 10 years since I biked across the US.
We stayed in a Geodome in Brinnon our night in Washington. It was stunning and probably the best night sleep I had the whole trip… until I was woken up by John loudly entering the dome and him grabbing my flip flop to use as a weapon.
Apparently Tahoe had stuck his head in a whole and disrupted a yellow jacket nest. Poor John and Tahoe got chased back to the dome by a swarm and sweet boy (Tahoe) got stung a bunch on his nose. He instantly came to snuggle with me, scared of the buggies that followed him. His nose swelled a bunch and we got on the road fast to make sure he was ok & seek care.
Happy to say he’s fine , although there is still some swelling present.
Todays drive after that adventure brought us to Portland where we are crashing with his UPT bud Grant. It’s also where we signed the final paperwork needed to officially close on our new Virginia home! Message me if you need our new address :)
