Community Highlight & Volunteer Call: Alaska Run for Women - June 6

Since 1993, the Alaska Run for Women has united thousands of women from all over Alaska and beyond at one of the largest all-women runs in the country, with the goal of ending breast cancer as well as showcasing Alaska’s women athletes.

Join the fun and celebrate 34 years of helping to support Alaska’s women with breast cancer detection, outreach, education, awareness, and research. As the Run grows so too does the grant fund – you don’t have to be a runner to come out and share the warm camaraderie that happens each year when thousands of women come together in sisterhood!

Your help is needed to continue making this special event a success! In particular, you can help at the Cuddy Quad for Event Set up on Friday June 5th from 3 to 7 p.m., as well as day-of Parking Support from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m, and Start and Finish Line Crowd Control from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and of course breakdown on Race Day 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors, join the celebration and this fantastic community event! 20 YEARS OF TWILIGHT! Tomorrow evening will be the 20th celebration of the return of summer to the Land of the Midnight Sun. The original Skinny Raven Sports event!

Skip the parking and get a warmup! Ride your bike to Twilight - our friends at Bike Anchorage will be hosting a FREE bike valet! Drop your bike off at the finish line on the Park Strip, walk/jog to the downtown store for the start, and the valet crew will keep your bike safe and organized.

It works like a coat check – you check in your bike with our valet staff, take a number, and enjoy the event knowing your bike is secure. Bike parking is available on a first come, first served basis. This will be available near the finish at the Park Strip. You can park your bike and walk or jog over to the start line at 8th and H St as part if your warm up.

Bike parking will be open from 6:00pm to 9:30pm.
