This page was created to keep parents and players that participate in Youth Sports programs updated on our Department activities.
The Andalusia Department of Leisure Services was created by City Council action effective January 1, 1973. Luther Brown was hired as the first director, and charged with oversight of the already established youth baseball programs, the pool and summer playground activities, and a new youth football program. Art Gilbert's summer golf students at the Evans Barnes Golf Course included Beckham Bass, Collin Crysell, John Smith, Benton Parker, Riley Oglesby, Mason Oglesby, Rickey Bess, Marshall Harris, Ezra Craig, John Wright, Nathaniel Wright, William Hall and Jude Mancil.

CAL RIPKEN 8U STATE BASEBALL FINALS
Florence White defeated Westside A in finals of the Big Park division of the state tournament in Andalusia on Sunday.
Citronelle defeated Grand Bay in the Small Park division of the tournament.
Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson, Tournament Director Mike Hourel, and Rec Board Chairman Billy Joe Stallworth were on hand for the award ceremonies Sunday morning.
Thanks to all who traveled to Andalusia and made it a great tournament.

The Cal Ripken 8U baseball finals are set! Both games play at 10 am in Johnson Park.

Congratulations to Andalusia’s 10U Baseball All-Stars, who defeated Semmes, 13-2, to win the state tournament in Thomasville this afternoon!
Andalusia's 10U Baseball All-Stars defeated Thomasville, 12-0, and is about to play in the finals. Way to go, 10U!
ANDALUSIA 10U ALL-STARS defeated Thomasville, 12-0, in the state tournament this morning and play again at 3:30.

Andalusia’s 10U Baseball All-Stars emerged from pool play at the state tournament in Thomasville as second seed moving into brackets tomorrow.
They defeated Westside A, 18-3, and Monrovia, 6-4, in pool play on Friday.

Pool play has ended and tomorrow’s brackets are set in the Cal Ripken 8U State Baseball Tournament in Andalusia.

The Cal Ripken 8U State Baseball Tournament is underway at Johnson Park. Seventeen teams participated in opening ceremonies, where Councilman Jeremy Craig threw the first pitch to catcher Councilman Joe Nix. Other members of the Council and the Rec Board also were on hand. Admission is free, so come out to the park this weekend and enjoy some baseball.
