Confidence. Trust. Dominate.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to witness something amazing at the 3M Open at our home course TPC Twin Cities.

Jackson Koivun won his first PGA tour title.

He’s 21.
He turned pro just 24 days prior.
It was his 3rd professional start.

He held his lead the final day with smooth confidence and came up with a beautiful win.
All with world number 1, Scottie Scheffler, hot on his heels. And the crowd chanting “Scottie’s coming.” He didn’t flinch.

He’s been called a phenom. The next Tiger. He’s got an impressive college and amateur record, including three-peating the SEC Individual Championship, two NCAA titles, crushing amateur records, and the first to win all four major collegiate awards in a single season.

He must come from some sort of “golf pedigree,” right?

Not exactly.

He grew up learning on his local 9-hole municipal course.
He wrote Titleist at age 10, not to see if he could get free clubs but to ask what he needed to do to EARN them.
He showed up on the course relentlessly throughout his youth to continue bettering his skill. In fact, he wouldn’t let himself leave until he sunk 100 putts from 4 feet away.
He’d be first and last at practices.

After his 3M Open win? He celebrated by fishing the water on hole 18. Then he flew out to Detroit and showed up the following morning at the next tournament and began prepping.

On his glove are three words: confidence, trust, and dominate.

Confidence in his skills and maintaining an unshakeable inner belief in himself.
Trust to believe in his decisions under pressure.
Dominate not others, but his own game.

On the course this offers Koivun a mental mindset ready to take on the challenge.
Off the course, we can apply this to our own challenges.

Here are a few takeaways and correlations I find we can learn from him:

PRACTICE. After all, we’re all learners as much as we are experts in our field.
SMALL FISH. At some point, we are all small fish in a big pond. We will find ourselves in the shadow of something or someone seemingly greater and it may feel as though they are always right there - a challenge out of reach, mocking us, teasing comparison or imposter syndrome. Despite this, remember: we all start here. And we do have the capability to shine bright behind their shadow and succeed.
BE TRUE. Work hard but don’t work yourself into the ground. Trust your process. Find something to help hold your inner belief true.

It was an honor to witness this event. And I look forward to following his journey and using it as inspiration. I hope you do too.

Last night was something I’ll never forget.

After years of building, testing, questioning, refining, and believing…

…we officially unveiled the Insperai SPB Platform in an intimate and inspiring setting.

More than anything, the evening was a chance to thank those who believed in this vision long before the world could see it.

To everyone who came, asked thoughtful questions, shared ideas, and reminded me why this work matters…thank you. 🩷

This is only the beginning.

Now it’s time to put it into the hands of leaders, teams, and trusted advisors who are ready to think differently about one of the biggest blind spots in business:

The human system behind every important decision.

And like it says on the Storyteller wall: Together, We Create Change. Yes we do!

Leaders: When was the last time you asked yourself this question?

AI has become excellent at creating images.
It’s also great at uncovering patterns.
And doing research.
And generating ideas.
And summarizing dense information.
And writing and editing copy. (But check your work!)
And SO many other things.

But you know what it still majorly lacks? Human nuance. Context. Environment. Guardrails.
Unless that’s provided to the AI by the user, it lacks firm boundaries and doesn’t know what data or information to base its response on.

So you often have AI replies that give you: What you want to hear (it loves to agree with you). And misinformation or gaps, not because it’s bad at retrieving and sharing information, but because it doesn’t know what the output should be in relation to.

AI output is only as good as your input (prompt), the underlying model, system instructions, resources and knowledge available, context provided, and system tuning.

This is not a post about how to work better with AI (you can find hundreds of those posts daily and there are much better AI experts than me).

The intent is to give you pause and to remember AI can only go so far AND when it’s used well and implemented well, amazing things can be created and done with it.

AI is a central feature in our Insperai platform. Our AI (Ayris is her name) has been fine tuned and “educated” over the last couple of years and given appropriate boundaries and guardrails to ensure the most accurate data synthesizing and output generation. We’ve trained Ayris to do many tasks, from conducting deep meta-analysis to acting as a trained, on-demand decision risk advisor for clients and a companion for practitioners. It took years to get to this level and we still improve her every day.

So, if you’ve read to this point, let me say this: please, play around with AI and have fun making images and using it to help make your work more efficient. The more we learn and use it, the better we get at prompting it, and the better it gets at giving us the information we seek from it. I’d also suggest keeping an air of skepticism in its output and like they told us in school - always check your work - correct where needed so it learns! AI is an incredible tool at our disposal in every facet of our life and I cannot wait to see how it continues to evolve.

And PS: Personally, I quite like this 90s throwback look. I may even have clothes in my closet to make it in real life. After all, the 90s were the best decade! I said what I said. 😉

I finally built “the thing.”

It’s real.

For years, this thing has lived in my head, in notebooks, random scraps of paper, phone notes, late-night AI pep talks, Google docs, and conversations where I probably sounded a little crazy trying to explain it. (I heard myself!)

There were moments I questioned it.

Moments I thought maybe I should just let it go.

Moments I wondered if anyone else would ever see what I saw.

And there were plenty of blank stares as I excitedly tried to explain the giant spiderweb of ideas and possibilities.

But little by little, piece by piece, it came together.

This journey has stretched me in ways I never expected. It has been exciting, exhausting, humbling, frustrating, and incredibly meaningful all at once.

This image perfectly captures the last couple years of my life:

Notebooks everywhere. (Literally. Every room.)
Flowcharts.
Random notes.
Post its.
Ideas scribbled on anything I could find.
And a whole lot of determination.

For everyone who has listened to my endless ideas, encouraged me, challenged me, supported me, believed in me when it was still just a vision in my brain, and kept on asking:

“So… how’s the thing going?”

The answer is:

I finally built it.

And I can’t wait to share more. 🤗
