See Pokagon State Park from a different vantage point when you take a guided horseback trail ride. The saddle barn is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday-Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day. The 45-minute rides are $30 cash or $33 with credit card. Short pony rides are available next to the saddle barn for $5.
Walk-ins are accepted but please arrive 20 minutes early. Reservations can be made by calling the saddle barn at (260) 833-6007. Riders must be at least 8 years old and 52 inches tall. There is a weight limit of 250 pounds.
The barn may close due to rain or very high or low temps. Please call first if these conditions are present. There are no dress requirements; however, you will be most comfortable in long pants and closed-toe shoes. Call the saddle barn with any questions.

Are you looking for free things to do with the kids this month around Steuben County? We've put together a list of activities happening through the end of May that the whole family will love.
*Firefly Tour is a free performance by the Fort Wayne Ballet at the Roman Beer Stage at Commons Park in Angola Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair.
*That 70's Show, a concert featuring the Hoosier Hill Band performing pre-1980 songs Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. at Steuben County Community Center. Donations are accepted at the door.
*Angola Parks and Recreation kicks off the summer concert series in the park with a performance by The Hubie Ashcraft Band Friday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at Commons Park. The night features free bounce houses plus a classic car show.
*The Youth Art Show hosted by Angola Performing Arts Academy on the public square in downtown Angola Friday, May 15-Sunday, May 17 and May 22-24.
*Healthy Hamilton is an interactive family-friendly event featuring wellness organizations offering resources to the community Saturday, May 16 between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Events include a walking scavenger hunt and arts and crafts at the Hamilton Fire Department.
*The Steuben County Festival Choir and Old Crown Brass Band perform sacred music for brass band and chorus Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua, 700 W. Maumee St., Angola.
*Kingdom of Wonders Medieval Circus Magic show will have dazzling acrobatics, mesmerizing juggling and laugh-out-loud comedy Tuesday, May 19-Thursday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at the Steuben County Event Center at Crooked Lake. *The grand opening of Sheets Family Park Saturday, May 30 will feature free hotdogs and hamburgers, music, bounce houses, face painting, a strolling musician, a photo booth and more between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sheets Family Park is located in front of the YMCA of Steuben County.

Fresh produce, baked goods, handmade items, plants, honey and more are back as the Steuben County Farmers Market opens Saturday, May 9 for its 24th season. The market, located at 317 S. Wayne St., Angola, is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through October. Shop local and make Saturdays feel like summer again!

We welcome Elixir to downtown Angola, serving up craft cocktails, upscale American cuisine and live music. Open daily except Tuesday, Elixir serves both lunch and dinner and is located at 85 S. Public Square.
Smash burgers with fries, salads, fried cheese curds and golden fried mushrooms are a few of the popular lunch choices served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The atmosphere changes at dinner, with guests navigating their way into the restaurant through tunnels and hidden doors. Ice cream season in Steuben County is officially here!
Scoops, Ice Cream opens Friday, April 17, joining The Social Ice Cream Co., Angola Zesto, Sweet Summers, DJ'S TEMPTING TREATS & BBQ, and Capt'n Pete's Dairy Dock serving up cones, shakes and specialty treats throughout the spring and summer. In the next few weeks, you'll be able to enjoy your frozen favorites at Pokagon State Park (the indoor Courtyard Cafe at the Potawatomi Inn plus at the station on the park beach.) The Backyard, serving up ice cream along with miniature golf, opens later in May. Don't forget to visit Yo Yo Yogurt On Your Own Angola at the Jimmerson Lake/Lake James bridge.
