Lately, there have been so many little reasons to celebrate the women and things that shape me — Women’s Business Day, National Dance Day, and today, National Daughter Day. And as I look at this photo of my three girls in their little dance costumes, I realize how deeply all of those pieces of my life are intertwined. 🤍
My daughters are at the heart of everything that I do.
Being their mom has changed the way I lead Midwest Dance Collective. It shapes the way I teach, the way I make decisions, the way I care for our dancers, and the kind of environment I want to create within these four walls. Because when I look at the girls who walk through our doors, I see someone’s daughter. Someone’s whole heart. Someone who deserves to feel safe, known, encouraged, challenged, celebrated, and loved.
Motherhood has made me more intentional. More protective of childhood. More passionate about creating a studio culture where girls can grow into confident, kind, grounded young women — while still getting the beautiful, challenging, high-quality dance education they deserve.
And these three? They are my constant reminder of why it all matters. They are growing up alongside this studio. They have watched their mama build it, work it, love it, worry about it, celebrate it, and sometimes carry far more than I thought I could. They have been in the studio, backstage, at rehearsals, in costumes, and in the middle of the beautiful chaos that comes with building something you believe in. They are my inspiration in more ways than they will ever understand.
So today, on National Daughter Day, I’m celebrating them — and the incredible gift it is to be their mom.
And I’m celebrating the privilege of building a business that reflects the woman and mother I want to be.
Because at the end of the day, I’m not just building a dance studio, I’m building a place I would want my own daughters to grow up in. 🤍
