The ride for tonight (Thursday ) is cancelled. Let’s hope that this heat wave breaks soon.

I'm Jim Rasmussen and I'll be hosting the Thursday night LCC ride. We'll meet at the Albaugh Senior Center parking lot by the water tower at 5:45 and depart at 6 PM. We'll take the High Trestle Trail north to NW 126th and turn west and take Hugg Drive to Big Creek. Then we'll ride on the Neal Smith Trail over several wooden bridges to the town square in Polk City for rest and ice cream. We'll ride home on the Neal Smith Trail past the Saylorville Marina to Cherry Glen, and then take 1st Street back to the Albaugh Senior Center. Round trip should be around 20 miles. Should be a beautiful night for a ride. If you aren't an LCC member, feel free to join us to see if you'd like to take part in our club rides. Hope to see you Thursday night!

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27,at 8:45 in Slater by the ballfield and swimming pool, to ride the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail! We'll have lunch in Collins at the cafe/bakery. About 44 miles, round trip.🚲 🚴 🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♂️

Last minute reminder of events today! LCC May Social and Pedal with Police.

Ankeny Pedal with the Police:
The event begins at noon with a bike rodeo and youth helmet give-a-way, followed by a 4-mile or 15-mile community bike ride at 1 p.m. Officers will lead the ride, which will start and end at the Ankeny Market Pavilion.

Lake Country Cyclists May Social:
2:00 pm at Athletico Physical Therapy, 1604 NW State St, Ankeny. Opportunity to hear from the experts and get all your questions answered so you can enjoy your bike rides!

The May Social will be at Athletico Physical Therapy (1604 NW State St), on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 pm. We will learn about bike injury prevention and post ride routine to prevent soreness. Learn how to use therapeutic exercise tools. Come with questions and get answers from professionals!

This event is open to all.

We had a great member showing and informative program at our Spring membership meeting. Glad to see everyone there! And thanks to Scott Sumpter of Bike Iowa for sharing what’s happening with cycling in Iowa. Membership in Lake Country Cyclists has the perks of a cycling community, learning opportunities and fellowship!

We had a nice turnout for our trash cleanup day. The club "adopted" two miles of the Gay Lea Wilson Trail in Ankeny to keep it tidy for trail users. We then visited FireTrucker Brewery, one of our business members, to chat. Join us and make new biking friends! Lakecountrycyclists.com
