Accountability, a great environment, and careful programming.

Here are your choices when it comes to suffering: some now, or more later.

Choosing 'some now' is much less ($) expensive and much more bad-assed.

The sled has nothing to do with this topic. Just a random picture ;)

A bit late sharing, but GotP 2.0 is fully operational! Steve and Josh at Maker built us a truly unique, world-class facility. Check them out on Instagram, and if you haven't seen it, watch the video tour:

The Well-Programmed Week #2:
The Perfect "Non-Athlete" Program

More is not always better! Everything in your program should be there for a very specific reason, otherwise you're not training, you're just working out.

Here's the setup required to complete Chip's "Kettlebell Friday."

4 rds of:

Goblet Squat
Swing
Double KB Incline Press
Batwing Row

He programmed this himself, which I think is fantastic. A good gym/trainer should, over time, provide an education. At this point, he only sticks around for my charm and magnetic personality.

Are protein bars "good for you?" It depends.
(More anti-perfectionism...my favorite topic!)

By establishing a system, you earn the right to set goals. No system? Fix that first!

Many believe that a trainer will motivate you to work harder. About 80% of the time, I'm finding sneaky ways to help people use LESS intensity so they can maintain good form, avoid injury, and stay in the game.

This would be good to keep in mind as you burn through your New Year's Resolution energy (which will be gone in a few weeks, btw). Be gentle with yourself in the beginning. Do a bit less than you think you can handle.

This way, you've at least got a shot at being in the tiny minority who will stick it out.

As my friend Keith Hafner would say, the tortoise always wins.

Just beta tested the new 'A' day:

2 min row
QL Straddle
2 rds. Of:
Shoulder Halo x5ea
Hip Airplane x5ea
Light Turkish Get Up x2ea.

Sumo Deadlift 5x5
Pullup 4x6
One Arm Kettlebell Bench 4x8ea.
Accumulate 50 Lunge Steps
Finisher: Falling Practice

Pretty fun. I think we'll keep it.
