Ann Arbor A2 United Boys Volleyball

2024 update - unfortunately, at this time, we do not have team(s). We have been trying every avenue we can to get boys volleyball teams into the high schools in AAPS, but sadly have met stiff resistance. We've had individuals in different schools willing to take it on, but the policy within AAPS administration is "no new athletic clubs or teams at this time".

We're still working with Rec and Ed to see if they might sponsor teams. We understand that Saline operates their team through their Rec and Ed, so we think that the Michigan Boys Volleyball Conference (MBVC) will allow that. We've also been contacting the school board to encourage them to create a policy that allows for a path for athletic clubs to be formed.

If you have any interest in joining our efforts to put pressure on AAPS to allow it, let us know. We're happy to have strength in numbers!

We did have a team compete for Ann Arbor last year, and they had a great season! However, at this time, MBVC is requiring that we a) form individual teams for each high school and b) have school or rec and ed support.

We look forward to sustaining our efforts to bring Boys High School Volleyball to AAPS one day in the future.

Meet Coach Eric!

Eric Lindsey grew up in Southern California loving beach and surf culture. Volleyball is a large part of this culture and Eric played all forms, grass, beach and indoor, finally playing for the club team sponsored at Cal State Long Beach before moving to Northern California to pursue a career in prosthetic manufacturing. Eric coached youth soccer and volleyball in Sacramento, eventually moving to Ann Arbor with his family in August 2022. Seeing a need for boys’ volleyball at the high school level in Ann Arbor, Eric volunteered to help create a team along with other dedicated coaches and mentors. Eric’s hope is to see boys’ volleyball grow into a popular and thriving sport in Michigan.

Meet Coach John!

John O’Neal has 30 years of playing experience, both on beach and indoor volleyball. He spent 2 years as the assistant volleyball coach at Eastern Michigan (under Kim Berrington) and has 12 years coaching experience between Ga***rd St Mary, Ann Arbor Huron, and Melvindale HS. He also coaches the middle school program at Clague Middle School in Ann Arbor. He has spent 25 years as a middle school and high school educator and administrator.
