There have been some lovely cool nights and mornings of late, reminding us that the slow lingering decent into fall is just around the corner. Perfect time to announce our fall trip to Blind Lake on October 17th.
We hope you will join us.
What unfolds on these trips is a mini celebration of all the things we love about bikes. Good friends, old & new. A casual pace with stops for snacks and pictures. Racks overburdened by firewood and a night spent around the campfire catching up and dreaming about the season ahead, or behind.
Registration and all the details can be found here:

Welcome Sklar Bikes to the Sic Transit Family.
🎀
Who, what, when, why?
Adam Sklar is a mechanical engineer and custom frame builder that is now producing small batch bicycle frames for the masses. Distilling all he learned from hundreds of custom frames, he wanted to make bikes that were more accessible to a wider audience.
"I'm simply making the best bikes I know how, hoping they bring joy and enrich people's lives."
This is a mission we can get on board with!
🎀
The first round of frames are in the shop now and we will have some built up soon.

If you have called or stopped by the shop over the last four years you have likely run into Brooks. Aside from using various produce for telecommunication purposes, he has been a big part of our team and he will be missed now that he is moving on to new adventures.
Brooks's exploits could barley be contained on our staff bio page, and before it comes down we wanted to share it here for posterity:
Brooks was likely the first person you'd see when you visit our showroom. Imported from K’zoo, he is a former tournament bocce ball champion, speaks 15 languages and is a vinyl record aficionado. He also collects native shrubbery and is a competitive botanist. His recent attempt to set a new record for blindfolded 36 holes of golf in snorkel equipment is under review by Guinness World Records.
In a previous career, Brooks worked at restoring antique taxidermy collections from the early 1800s, specializing in tail reconstruction. The techniques he pioneered are still used to this day.
And as a young surfer he also explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and up to Pismo.
Currently Brooks is working with the National Coffee Association and OSHA to establish workplace coffee brewing standards. A personal mission, he believes no one should suffer poorly brewed, bitter coffee and employers should be held accountable for this type of workplace abuse.
A prolific time traveler, in the world of Animal Crossing Brooks was able to bend the laws of time and space for his own financial advantage.
Having been born with two right feet, Brooks soon found that piloting a traditional left hand drive car was nearly impossible and he was forced to source a Japanese made right hand drive car, formally used for livestock transport in the Niigata region of Japan.
Lastly, it has been observed by many that the passage of time seems to have no effect on Brooks and he maintains his youthful appearance while others age around him. This has led to continued speculation that he is in fact John Ledford, born in Lancaster England in 1724 and is immortal.
Good luck Brooks! Gonna miss you in Lowertown.

John finally came in to show us the project he's been working on, and isn't it a beauty!
He built the frame himself while attending Bohemian Frame building School and had Franklin Frames do the paint work.
From there he slapped all the prettiest parts he could find on it and this masterpiece was born.
Scroll through to see the man after completing the frame!
