Ischgl 🇦🇹 has a reputation. Dancing on tables, live DJs, Christina Aguilera on the mountain. 🎤

But ask a local guide and he’ll tell you most people have no idea how good the skiing is. 👀

We’re in Austria’s Western Tirol with Patrick Walter. He’s a certified ski guide and instructor, and he trains the instructors. In the episode we get into:

Ski season is about 8 weeks out. That’s exactly enough time to fix it. 💪

We went to Boulder’s Alpine Training Center to get the plan from Connie Sciolino:

🦵 Bulgarian split squats: you’ll hate them, and your skiing will love them
📦 Box jumps: “every turn is like a landing”
🍑 Hip mobility. Yes, the Jane Fonda moves actually work
⏱️ Intervals that mimic a ski run: go hard, then rest like you’re on the chairlift
📅 An hour a day is all you need (if you plan ahead)

❄️ San Juans, Taos & Arizona Snowbowl: the El Niño sweet spot
🎲 Tetons & Colorado: total coin flip
🥵 Western Canada, New England & the Midwest: brace yourselves

The wild card? Temperature. A couple of degrees can mean the difference between a dump or a rainy weekend. 🌧️
