Check out my recent interview with the team at Bar Karate in Australia where we discuss my new Mini 6.50 Resolve and what goes into a Mini Transat campaign.

This was a return to Bar Karate for me since I first joined the podcast in 2023, just before racing across the Atlantic in the Mini Transat aboard 837 Terminal Leave (designed by co-host Bret Perry!). Three years later, a lot has changed. We have built an entirely new platform designed to compete at the front of the Prototype fleet.

During the conversation we get into the evolution from racing a series boat to a prototype boat, why I decided to build a fully foiling Mini, and some of the challenges that come with trying to fly offshore.

I appreciate Bar Karate’s interest in the larger mission behind this campaign — racing to expand support for US PATRIOT Sailing . It is all about creating more opportunities to support veterans through sailing.

What began with helping the team on a few boat maintenance projects in the winter of 2019 eventually led me to find a renewed sense of purpose and community during a challenging period in my personal life. US Patriot Sailing was there for me after I returned from deployment and as I transitioned off active duty. The team helped me even when I was not prepared to ask for help, and over time it guided me back to my passion for offshore racing.

Today, as an ambassador for U.S. Patriot Sailing, my mission is to use this racing campaign to expand support for the organization and create more opportunities for veterans to experience the benefits of sailing.

American offshore sailor Peter Gibbons-Neff has launched RESOLVE (USA 1137), a new fully foiling Classe Mini 6.50 prototype designed by renowned naval architect Sam Manuard and built by JPS Production in La Trinité-sur-Mer, France.

On Sunday at 2 PM at the Newport Boat Show, I’ll be sharing the story behind building "Resolve" and preparing to race solo across the Atlantic in the 2027 Mini Transat.

We’ll go behind the scenes of the newest foiling Mini 6.50, from its carbon construction in France to the foils, electronics, sails, first flight, and the lessons I’m carrying forward from the 2023 Mini Transat.

New blog post about the first sail on 1137!

Introducing 1137 RESOLVE , the newest Classe Mini 6.50 prototype designed for the 2027 Mini Transat. The wait is finally over, we launched the new boat and it foiled out of the water on the very first test sail!
