⛵ Farr Designs at the 59th Eurobank Andros International Yacht Race "Ioannou V. Goulandris"
Four days of offshore racing off Andros (August 27–30, 2026) wrapped up with Olympic sailors Takis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis reclaiming the title aboard Velos – Eurobank Private Banking, topping the Performance–P1 division.
The regatta crowns separate champions across three divisions — Performance P1, Performance P2, and Sport — and Farr Yacht Design boats put in a strong showing in P1:
🥈 Pete (IMS 43 / Des 491) — 2nd in Performance P1
🥉 Seahawk Black Jack (GP 42 / Des 605) — 3rd in Performance P1
🏅 Ellinix Farr Away – (Farr 40 One Design / Des 724) — 5th in Performance P1
Three Farr designs in the top 5 of their division — a great result for the fleet at one of Greece's most historic offshore classics. 🏆

Great week on the water for Insatiable, Tim Cunliffe’s Farr 30 (Design 338), at Dartmouth Royal Regatta Sailing Week — 3rd overall in the 4-day series and 3rd in Class 1 of the IRC Nationals.
Solid, consistent results for a design nearly 30 years old, still holding its own against the current IRC fleet. Well sailed, Insatiable crew. ⛵

🏆 KZ-5 IS 12 METRE GRAND PRIX WORLD CHAMPION 🏆
Andrea Bianchedi’s KZ-5 has sealed the title in Imperia with two races still to sail — five wins and a discarded second in six starts. Pietro D’Alì on the helm, Flavio Favini calling tactics, Tiziano Nava skippering, flying the Yacht Club Italiano burgee.
KZ-5 (Des 196) is one of the original trio of fibreglass 12 Metres built for New Zealand’s 1987 America’s Cup campaign. Her sistership KZ-7 “Kiwi Magic” is in Imperia too, sailed by Jes Gram-Hansen and fighting for the podium.
Two Farr twelves, one world title. 🇳🇿⛵🇮🇹

⚓ EIGHT BELLS — King Harald V of Norway (1937–2026)
Farr Yacht Design remembers His Majesty King Harald V of Norway — Olympian, world champion, and one of the most dedicated clients in our design history.
Over five decades of racing, Harald campaigned four generations of Farr designs, each named Fram:
🔹 Fram X — Design , 1-Tonner (Cookson Boats, 1986) — helped the king win the One Ton Cup world championship in Kiel, Germany, in 1987.
🔹 Fram XIV — Design #412, ILC 40 (1996) — grand prix circuit regular
🔹 Fram XV — Design #488, 51ft IMS racer (2000) — A royal racing sailboat on which King Harald and his crew won a European championship title in Sweden in 2005, later donated to the Norwegian Sailing Federation to train the next generation of Olympic and America’s Cup sailors
🔹 Fram XVI — Design #590, TP52 (Cookson Boats, 2005) — raced the European MedCup circuit. A custom 50-footer built in New Zealand in 2006 that he used to win regattas like the Færderseilasen before listing it for sale in 2010
Three Olympic Games. A world title.🏆️ A lifetime spent racing hard and giving back to the sport. Fair winds, Your Majesty.

Throwback Thursday: Classic Boat Archive
2000 — Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 52.2 (15.39 m) (Des 205)
A look back at the flagship Sun Odyssey 52.2, the updated version of Farr's original 51-footer design. The 2000 refresh brought narrower, longer appendages, a deeper optional keel, and an extended "Performance" sail plan — all aimed at giving the cruiser more grunt in light air, historically its weak spot.
Two decades on, it's a great reminder of how a well-proportioned a Farr hull can be continually refined rather than replaced. ⛵📐

3 Designs. 3 Podiums. 1 Brutal Mediterranean Storm. 💨🏆
The 2026 Palermo-Montecarlo threw everything at the fleet, an 8-hour race suspension, sheltering crews, and winds forecast at 60–80 knots before the final storm-corrected times were settled in Monaco. Through it all, our Farr hulls and their crew proved exactly why they're built for the toughest offshore conditions:
🥈 ORC Group 1: Viva Malta (Cookson 50 / Des 541) powered through the heavy air to claim 2nd place, behind Arkas Blue Moon.
🥇 ORC Group 2: Sur (First 36.7/ Des 446) took first in corrected time group two.
🥈 IRC Overall: South Kensington Lauria (First 35 / Des 622) sailed a masterclass in tactics to take 2nd place overall.
🥇 Double-Handed (X2) Champions: Melagodo (First 34.7 / Des 543) delivered the standout performance of the regatta — the only shorthanded crew to finish the race at all, taking 1st place!
Proven speed. Legendary strength. Ready for whatever the ocean throws next. 📐⛵
