We currently have 16 vacant police officer positions and are in need of filling them in order to provide the best service possible to our citizens. Starting pay is now $18.72/hr with an additional $150 per month public safety pay. BCHA McClellan Chapter is so very excited to host this Saturday, April 3rd,
our first “Sassy Tails” event for special needs children at the beautiful Camp McClellan Horse Trails.
Visitors and spectators are always welcome.
The “Sassy Tails Program” is a part of the BCHA McClellan Chapter.
It is an outreach program formed by the McClellan Chapter to offer and allow our children with Special Needs the opportunity to enjoy and interact with horses and ponies under the supervision of professional volunteer Chapter Members.
There is no charge for attending any of these events. All expenses are paid for by our gracious generous sponsors and the Mcclellan Chapter Membership.
Activities will include many activities such as led horse riding, grooming, and even painting (water colors) real ponies. Many other activities are also planned.
These events will be held frequently in the future, so if you have, or know of anyone who has, a precious special needs child, and wish to attend future such events,

: Annual Thanksgiving Feeding at Carver Center

Each year our Parks & Recreation Department, through the Good Choices Program, hosts an annual Thanksgiving Feeding for those in need. This year will not be any different; however, it will be slightly modified!
“Take-Out” meals will be made for pickup at the Carver Community Center (720 W. 14th St) on Day (Nov. 26th) from 11:00am until 1:00pm! Therefore, if you or someone you know is in need of a warm holiday meal, please come our way! 🦃

We have some spooky and exciting news! On October 30th the City of Anniston’s employees and staff will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat in the parking lot of City Hall (4309 McClellan Blvd, Anniston, AL 36206) from 2:30pm until 4:30pm! The event will be open to all kids ages 12 and under! 🚗🍬
McGruff and Sparky will be there from the Anniston Police Department and Anniston Fire Department! The Anniston Museum of Natural History will be there with some of their little friends too! Each attraction will be appropriately socially distanced from the others, and hand sanitizers will be available between each as well!
So, be sure to grab your mask and come up to City Hall on October 30th for a fun afternoon full of candy and creatures!

The City of Anniston is excited to announce the creation of its new program for our beautiful downtown area! In addition, to better support our local businesses, the City of Anniston is all city fees related to this new program for all of 2020!

If you are interested in operating a sidewalk café in Anniston, there are a few steps that you must take:
1️⃣ Review the sidewalk café design . You may find it online on the city’s website, under the Historic Preservation Commision tab, or you may download it via this link: https://rb.gy/951tke. Business owners must ensure that the proposed sidewalk complies with all guidelines and requirements listed within, as well as the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
2️⃣ Submit the Sidewalk Cafe License Application, the non-refundable $250* application review fee, and all required supporting documents (*This fee is for 2020). This may also be found online under the Historic Preservation Commision tab, and may be downloaded via this link: https://rb.gy/s9fakh.
3️⃣ Communicate with the Building & Safety Division. Please allow 10 days for a review of the application, documentation packet, and any site issues of the proposed location.
4️⃣ Once the City Staff/ Anniston Historic Preservation Commission (AHPC) approves the application, the application will be submitted to the City Council. The applicant will be notified of when and where the appropriate meeting will take place.
5️⃣ The application will then be moved to the City Council for a public hearing and final Passage.
6️⃣ After a building permit is obtained, construction on the sidewalk cafe can begin.
7️⃣ Once construction is complete, a final inspection will be performed by City Staff.
8️⃣ When the sidewalk cafe passes inspection, pay the annual $200* license fee and operation can begin (*This fee is for 2020)!
