FVL Girls Soccer

The Foxes season came to a close on Saturday in the State Tournament Regional Final vs. Notre Dame Academy, losing 0-9. The Foxes were down many key players and couldn't keep up from the start of the match.

The Foxes ended their season strong before this game however, winning their last seven out of eight, including a regional semi-final upset vs. Waupaca, which was the largest seeded upset to that point for games in the D3 bracket.

Thank you for your support throughout the season and thank you to our 12 seniors in the program that are moving on. I'm not crying, you're crying!

Upset victory for your Fox Valley Lutheran High School Girls Soccer Foxes as they traveled to face the Waupaca Comets at Waupaca High School for the WIAA State Tournament Regional Semifinal.

The Foxes came in as the #10 seed vs. the #7 seed but the first half was all Foxes as they came to play and leading varsity scorer Sydney Szerkins put two goals in and the Foxes had several other chances that were just wide.

The Comets came roaring back in the second half and scored one but the Foxes defense bent, but didn't break, and they were able to come away with the 2-1 victory.

Next up is the regional final vs. Notre Dame Academy on Saturday, 06/06, game time at 1:00 PM at Notre Dame Academy.

The JV Foxes squad finished their season with a 14-2 record, their best since 2019 which also went 14-2. This year's squad accomplished a 63% shutout stat while outscoring their opponents 55-15. Leading goal scorer was sophomore Paula Garagorri with 28 goals followed by Lucy Schumacher with 10 and Janina Elmer with 7.

For the final game of the regular season, the FVA Conference Hortonville Polar Bears came to challenge the FVL Foxes on their home turf.

First up, the JV squad took an 8-0 victory with goals by Paula Garagorri (4), Janina Elmer (2), Laney Chapman, and Emma Hermes. Shutout by Abby Bessler and the defense. The JV Foxes finished with an outstanding 14-2 record.

The varsity squad then prevailed in a hard fought 2-0 victory with both goals by leading varsity scorer Sydney Szerkins. Shutout by Sabrina Schmidt and the defense.

Next up the Foxes enter the WIAA state tournament regional semi-final as a 10th seed and will play the 7th seed Waupaca Comets on 06/04, time TBD at Waupaca High School.

The Foxes once again held their end-of-season party at Appleton Axe! Here are a few pictures from the event with the attending seniors holding the FVL Girls Soccer Alumni Game Trophy showcasing their recent alumni game victory.

And in one of the more shocking upsets in FVL Girls Soccer End-of-Season Party history, three-time champion Coach Parnau was dethroned in the axe throwing tournament final by sophomore international student Carlota Rodriguez, albeit in an unsanctioned speed tournament. Following in the footsteps of her fellow Canary Islands footballer, Misa Rodriguez, she represented the JV squad well in coming out on top! Third place went to senior Caycee Riesenweber!
