America's first skating club. Skate with our excellent coaches and enjoy plentiful ice in a friendly atmosphere in Ardmore, PA, 20 mins. from Philadelphia.
At the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society, America’s first skating club, our mission is to preserve and promote the sport, art and history of figure skating for recreation and competition. People come to the PSCHS to skate and they stay because of our excellent coaches and staff, fantastic and plentiful ice, friendly atmosphere, and convenient location in a club-owned, year round facilit
y in Philadelphia’s Main Line suburb of Ardmore just 20 minutes from Philadelphia. Our welcoming environment, comprehensive on- and off-ice skating programs and fun social events promote camaraderie, sportsmanship, health and fitness for children and adults at all skill levels. Our rink is unique because it is truly geared for figure skating with high quality ice, abundant natural light, a wall of mirrors, no boards and no hockey teams. Come and skate with us, watch your favorite skaters from our warm lounges, or check out our fully stocked skate shop and skate sharpening services. PSCHS has something for everyone, old or young, experienced or beginner. Unlike a regular club, our rink is owned by our members and many of our activities are solely dedicated to their enjoyment and advancement. In these days of constant scheduling and stress, there is no better place for family fun and fitness, recreation, exercise, camaraderie, competitions, exhibitions, tests, camps, Special Olympics, and much more. It’s not often you get to see the rink like this.
The August maintenance work is underway. We’re melting the ice and getting ready for fall. Before long, this will all be ice again.
Can’t wait to see you this fall!

Do you wish you could keep skating this August at PSCHS?
What a summer it’s been!
From Summer Camp and Learn to Skate to daily training sessions, our rink has been filled with learning, friendships, and unforgettable moments.
As we wrap up the season, our annual August pause gives us time to prepare the rink for fall. But we’re working toward a future where August doesn’t have to mean the ice goes away.
A new refrigeration system will allow the Club to operate year-round, creating more opportunities to skate while preserving this historic home for generations to come.
If PSCHS has been part of your story, please consider supporting our Capital Campaign.
Every gift brings us one step closer to skating 12 months a year.

What do you enjoy most about coaching?
Even after all of my years of coaching, I still find the greatest joy in when a skater lands a new jump for the first time. It provides a shared moment of excitement and satisfaction for skater and coach.
Do you have a specialty or discipline you focus on?
I really take great pride in my skaters’ skating skills. I feel strong skating skills, together with a focus on posture and free leg extension, lead to strong jump and spin elements.
What’s one thing skaters might not know about you?
I am from a military family. My father is a retired US Army colonel who was an 82nd Airborne Ranger. I have two uncles that were Brigadier Generals in the Army. I am the proud mom of two sons who have served/currently serving our country; one in the US Coast Guard and one in the US Army. I myself was named Cadet of the Semester as an Air Force ROTC student while studying Civil Engineering at Villanova University.....and got to fly in an A-10 fighter jet!
