I help perimenopausal women reclaim their bodies & embrace strength, without focusing on the scale. Life is too short for that s**t! I teach and support.
Living a life where you feel better than your old self is FU***NG AMAZING, and within your reach! My focus (my mission!) is helping women OWN IT and reclaim their health through strength training (lifting challenging weights!) AND changing behavior to develop good sleep, stress, daily movement, and nutrition habits - learning to make choices that support how you want to look and feel. I love worki
ng with women to help them live life the way they want to live it - to teach them how to optimize their approach and establish a sustainable plan that allows for living a normal life that isn't about working out all the time, tracking food forever and eating rice cakes (tracking is a learning tool, and it should not be a life sentence!). I like to change as little as possible to get the desired results. If it isn't broken, I won't fix it! A little bit about me... I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Additionally, I am an ACE Certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist, a Certified Pain Free Performance Specialist (PPSC), have completed my 200 Registered Yoga Teacher Training, and have completed courses in Barbell Rehab and Strength Training the Post Operative Client. I achieved all of this in my 40s, over the last 8 years. I also have an undergrad in English and a Master's degree in Organization Development / Executive Coaching (my life before finding my future in fitness)! I have had my own battles with disordered eating, anxiety, and alcohol over the years. I am proud to share that I have maintained and continued to improve on my health over the past 8 plus years - beyond just improving my body composition. I am 48 and in the best shape of my life, physically, and more importantly even, mentally! I have found my purpose; my mission, my contribution to our community, is to share my experience, strength, and hope with other women to help them abandon the all or nothing extremes and restrictions that only result in self-sabotage and yo-yo dieting. I want to lead them to a break through - to a lifestyle guided by self-care and freedom. My ideal client is a person who recognizes they are 100% responsible for their health, and they are ready and willing to change what they can, and let go of what they can't. My clients accept that they are the cause AND the solution of their obstacles, and are ready to take action. I am not here to convince anyone they need to and can feel better. But if that's what you want, I can show you the way. The heavy lifting (pun totally intended, love them!) is on the client; they have to want this for themselves, and they will get out of it exactly what they put into it. I am not a source of motivation, and I am not a cheerleader. Instead, I am a source of education and accountability: I am a coach. The client learns, practices, and (slowly) changes. The only magic pills are learning, practicing, and becoming consistent. This is why I call my company "Own It". At Own It, we are training for life - training to improve functionality to perform life's daily activities without pain or limitations; training so your family is trying to keep up with you versus you keeping up with them!! My job is to show you how to RECLAIM YOUR HEALTH and give you the tools and support you need to make sustainable changes towards crushing your fitness goals! In addition to strength training, when the client is ready, we will examine the other pillars that contribute to improving and sustaining your overall health, like the current eating plan, sleep, stress management, and identifying supporting behaviors / habits and or environmental improvements that the client needs to make or break to enable and support being the kind of person she/them wants to be. Together we can create a sustainable approach, based on proven research, that supports the client incorporating the best choices that align with living her/their healthier life. We will work towards small changes over time, as there are no shortcuts to sustainable success. Ideally we change as little as possible and avoid feelings of overwhelm and or restricted. As I mentioned, I believe in teaching methods for sustainable change. I don't believe in trying for quick, temporary change, I think it is a waste of time. Nothing about my approach is fast. No BS promises. No "get results in X days". You get out of this what you put into it. Sustainable success depends on you OWNING IT. If I sound like the trainer for you, I would love to talk more on the phone! This would offer a better opportunity for me to learn more about you and your goals, while sharing more about Own It!, and answering any additional questions you have. If not, I congratulate you on starting your health journey, and wish you beyond the best!!
