Over 94% of pro athletes played multiple sports…

Meanwhile, multi sport athletes are going extinct due to the early sport specialization (and monetization) epidemic.

Here’s some cold hard facts about specializing too early:

1️⃣Increased risk of pain and overuse injuries
2️⃣Increased risk of mental/emotional burnout
3️⃣Increased risk of anxiety and depression
4️⃣Decreased speed, agility and athleticism
5️⃣Lower lifelong participation in physical activity
💥Significantly lower chance of going pro (or college)

If you want to raise healthy, happy, high performing kids?

This is the general road map I recommend to parents:

Age 3-10introduce as many sports/activities as possible
Age 10-15 choose 3 seasonal sports each year to compete
Age 15-18 narrow that down to 2 core sport focuses in HS
Age 18+ specialize in one single sport and to ALL in as adult

NOTE: Proper prehab, strength and conditioning should be introduced to youth athletes around the age of 12 ongoing.

There are many paths to the pros. But one things for sure…

The best athletes (not players) are the ones who move well, stay healthy, are strong and adaptable. And you simply can’t gain the diverse physical experiences needed to thrive by playing one sport year round early on as a youth athlete.

As counter intuitive as it sounds, it’s pivotal to play multiple sports if you want to take ONE sport to the next level.

The proof is in the data, 94% of pros paths doesn’t lie… 05/15/2026
