AHS Colt Wrestling Booster Club

Wrestlers and Parents:

We received some bad news on Friday. AHS Wrestling generally has two significant fundraisers that allow us to do things most programs in the area don't--feed our kids tournament meals and duel snacks, outfit every wrestler from head to toe with no money out of the kids'/families' pockets, travel tournament, etc.

We were notified Friday, that one of those fundraisers (the Charles Schwab Challenge PGA Golf Event at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth) will not be available to us this year. We're still trying to figure out exactly why, but, regardless, we will not have it available this year. This single weekend generally nets us $8k-$10k each year. This fundraiser in the Spring funds our Takedown Dinner, seed money for the tournament concession stand and coaches hospitality, as well as beginning of the school year equipment from vendors not available to use through AISD (Booster Club bought items).

With few options for us to raise that kind of money in the short amount of time we have left before school is out, we've decided to give “Team Funded” a try. Today and over the next couple of days, we will be sending home a form with each wrestler to sit down with a parent to fill out with names and phone numbers. Once we get those forms back, additional information will come home (sometime next week) regarding the next steps in sending out the information to your contacts and socials.

Though not ideal, this is our best shot at maintaining our current level of funding for the beginning of next year. Then, with more time to figure stuff out, we'll re-evaluate what we can do to replace the golf tournament if we are not re-instated next year.

Please, please, please, as soon as possible, sit with your wrestler/parent to complete the form and stay engaged with SportsYou for announcements regarding next steps.

Our tournament (Turkey Takedown) is by far the biggest fundraiser that we have for the year and is vital in funding our programs as well as funding the booster club and what they do for our programs. At the tournament, we can expect around 80 coaches and trainers per day that will need to be fed at least two meals per day. With that said, a big chunk of the funds we raise get put back into feeding coaches, trainers, officials, volunteers, etc. So, this year, we've put together an Amazon Wish List to try to get some, at least, of the non-perishable items used in the hospitality room donated. Please share the link below and some variation of the solicitation below to your Social Media accounts, email distribution lists, etc. and help us offset some of the costs and put more money back into the kids.
