Hi! not sure if this is allowed but selling my daughter's climbing shoes. She outgrew them in 6months. Excellent condition!
Anyone want to lead tomorrow (Tuesday) around 4p? I could also probably do earlier during the day
Thank you Earth Treks for a great experience for these Miami girls! Excellent staff and what an amazing venue to climb! We will be back!
Residents, the fitness center is closing on June 4 for improvements but our friends over at Earth Treks Crystal City are ready to take care of you! Contact us at the management office for complete details. 💪
To the large groups/pods that have come in recent mornings, you are welcome at Earthtreks.

But the fact that you are not distancing from each other, DOES NOT MEAN you can ignore physically distancing from the rest of us.

Some of you are making it an unsafe place for members that are not vaccinated or immune compromised.

Stop.

Move away.

Consider your pathways through the bouldering areas.

Consider the density of your squatting on the mats.

And FFS one climber at a time per section.

Be safe, and be welcome.
Taking a moment to salute the incredible, unparalleled brill the ETCC setters have been putting into the bloodletting area (I typed “bouldering” and autocorrect, but imma let it stand, LOL).

But seriously, I curse your sets some days, but “it’s not you, it’s me.“

I love the surprise volume problems, I feel seen and loved every time I come in and see them.

*tips hat, curtsies*
The enormity of my surprise and delight to find the setters had set THREE beautiful volume problems in addition to their already rock star setting schedule...

I’m so impressed with y’all, and grateful.

(Despite the fact that I haven’t finished any of them yet. 😂)
I put in requests for volume problems often, and put in feedback forms bemoaning the recent lack of climbs in the v1-5 range several times in the last few weeks.

Imagine my glee today to see a volume set temporarily, and a new set that has 0-6.

I feel seen y’all.

Super appreciative over here.
Hi folks!

In the spirit of community building, I recently made an app called SpotCatch to help people find climbing partners. It's up on the App Store and Google Play (links below), so go check it out if you're looking for a belaytionship!

This is still the initial launch, so feedback is welcome and please forgive the rough edges; many more features should be coming soon! But the basics are all set- find nearby climbers, filter by climbing preferences such as risk appetite and interests, and hit some rock or plastic with new friends!

Android: https://rb.gy/othvqg iOS: https://rb.gy/snrx3g
Happy 4 years to Earth Treks Crystal City! We wish you many more years of climbing in the gym! 🎉
Super shout out to ETCC setters.

3 new areas of bouldering routes this week is really knocking it out of the park y’all.

We love and miss you.

P.s. the rest of us went down a grade while off, seems you all went up a grade in your setting. *wink*

Also, *wincing, and limping * LOL

When you feel the pump setting in on a hard route, it may seem like rushing to the top by giving it everything you have is the move, but the best way to beat the pump is to get ahead of it by resting along your route. Before you start climbing, identify some good rest spots from the ground. Once you get there, put as much weight in your feet as you can, and hang straight-arm with a loose, open-finger grip. Gently shake the lose arm for 5-10 seconds before switching, and BREATHE!

We're honored to have spent the last 24 years with you as Earth Treks. Now that our family has grown, we're moving forward as one community.

All Planet Granite, Earth Treks, and Movement Climbing + Fitness locations are now Movement! But no matter where your membership was, what handled you followed or where you are in your climbing, yoga, or fitness journey, in here you belong.

We’re still run by a team of lifelong climbers, yoga instructors, Olympic lifters, adventurers, and friends. The signs and our t-shirts may be changing, but we have the same passion we started with so many years ago. The next time we see you, you can expect the same experience you've always enjoyed.

We know Movement is a new name for some, but it’ll always be a community for all.

It’s time for the American Safe Climbing Association’s annual fundraiser! Earth Treks, Movement, and Planet Granite have donated $20,000 to help kick things off but @asca_bolt_replacement is looking to raise another $20,000.

The ASCA works the country to replace old hardware outdoors with high-quality bolts and anchors and if you’ve climbed outdoors, you’ve probably climbed on hardware provided by their organization. They are a barebones non-profit full of volunteers that have replaced over 25,000 bolts since 1998 and need your help to replace even more.

Check out the links below to donate or buy awesome gear from their auction site!

Is there a secret recipe for the perfect climbing partner? None of us is perfect but there are some key elements we all seem to appreciate about our climbing partners. During Thanksgiving, we find ourselves being grateful for our boulder and belay buddies because they make our climbing sessions a million times better and we hope we make their time better too!

Last month, we asked you what you loved about your partners and we used that to put together a recipe for what makes a great partner. All of us may have our own slight preferences like with any good recipe but we think that overall, most people will agree.

For our last Scary Moves - we're looking at the #1 move that spooked people on the wall - Slopers. And trust us, we get it. That’s why we’re here to go over what you need to know to move slopers from the most feared feature to something you can climb on with confidence! 😊

On our blog (link below), we go over specifically how to grab on different kinds of sloper holds so check there for some tips that will help you in any situation. But in general, the major thing to keep in mind with any sloper is your body positioning. For slopers, your body should be in the opposite direction of your hand. Go ahead and test it! First, establish your feet on the wall and grab the hold where it feels the best. Imagine your hand is on the North Pole. You’ll want your body to be as far south as possible. This will allow you to exert the maximum amount of force on the hold without your hand slipping off.

As an example, if you are gripping the top of a sloper, you'll want most of your mass directly below the sloper. This may require some creative movement with your body. Put your legs to work and bring your knees into the party! Squat down so you can stay on the good hold while still positioning yourself opposite your hand!

Not every move on the wall or aspect of climbing is one you are going to love. We all have those things that we would rather spend 10 minutes avoiding rather than trying. Luckily - with a little training, you can learn to love those things you avoid! - well, maybe not LOVE them, but definitely learn to accept them.

So, we want to know - what are the moves you avoid? The aspects of climbing you do not like? We'll be picking a few and sharing how some of our coaches learned to love them!
