Staff work. ✨

There is something about training with a staff that shifts everything. The reach. The flow. The way every movement has to be intentional or the weapon tells on you immediately.

Working with a staff demands presence. Coordination. A level of body awareness that sharpens everything else in your training. It is one of those techniques that humbles you fast and rewards you even faster when it clicks.

At Cornerstone we love a weapon that teaches as much as it trains. 🔥

We went to Katy TX...And Cornerstone SHOWED UP.

From the forms to the sparring, our students left everything they had on that mat. Representing our school, our art, and our community on the National Championship floor.

We are so incredibly proud of every single student who competed this weekend! The courage it takes to step on that floor in front of judges, crowds, and competitors from across the country is something not everyone will understand—but WE do.

Graceful, Powerful, Humble. This is what it means to be Cornerstone Strong.

The spinning crescent kick. It is not just a technique. It is a legacy. 🥋

While Japanese systems favored linear strikes, Korean martial arts developed something distinctly their own: circular, sweeping, powerful kicks rooted in ancient arts like Taekkyon and Subak. Arts that were nearly erased during Japanese occupation. Arts that warriors kept alive in secret so we could stand here today and practice them freely.

Tang Soo Do is a keeper of that tradition.

Every time you commit to that rotation—fully, precisely, without hesitation—you are honoring thousands of years of Korean martial history.
